Interlude 1A
“- actually kind of cool that she took down a cape like that. I can’t believe Sophia was a ward after everything she’s don-“
Director Emily Piggot shut the television off and tried not to throw the remote at it. She succeeded, in that she missed.
Rather than trying to grab the smashed plastic and two double-A batteries off the ground, she reached for her cell phone. It started ringing the instant she picked it up, so she answered it.
“Yes.†Piggot answered the phone tersely, then as she listened, her face contorted in anger. “No, what you need to do right now is let me know why I’m first hearing of this from the goddamn six o’ clock news!â€
She brought her other hand up to rub at her face. “Shadow Stalker hasn’t been found yet?â€
She almost went to yelling again, but then she calmed down immensely. “She’s violated her probation a half-dozen ways, and as far as we know, from here she’s pulling a runner which is another violation. She’s out of my team, and if she’s still in Brockton Bay, we’re treating her as a villain cape. Stop payment on her checks… hell, freeze her whole damn bank account. You can handle it from here. I’ve got some other calls to make.â€
Director Piggot ended the call without waiting for a response, then made another call immediately. “Get me the principal of Winslow. We need to start on the damage cont- He’s resigned? Interview?â€
She cursed the mess of plastic that used to be her remote control and got up to turn the television back on manually.
“-told that she was a witness in an important investigation. We weren’t allowed to handle discipline. The one time we tried to give her a detention, I got a call from the goddamn cops saying she was needed and couldn’t attend it. What were we supposed to-â€
This time, Director Emily Piggot used her fist and didn’t miss.
NOTE: Sorry, probably not going to write more on this for some time. This is what I have and I realized I was losing motivation to write more (personal things happened) so I'm posting this. Might take me months or longer, or never come back to this fic. Don't want to get any hopes up.

I'm feeling depressed so... I can't see myself doing anything really constructive at the moment. I don't want to get your hopes up because I have a history of dropping fics especially if I pause them for too long. I want to continue this fic (at least I think I do) but I'm in a state of mind where everything creative I do is repulsive to me and I can't stand my own writing.
...I am the tsundere author. Don't mind me, just posting yet another "last snippet ever."

Emma Barnes watched the news in detached disbelief. The little screen above her hospital bed was confirming that her world had been turned upside down and inside out.
Sophia. Sophia had lost to Taylor.
Taylor was…

“-have to talk to the police, Emma. If you’re another one of Sophia Hess’s victims, you need to-“
Emma growled in frustration.
“I am not a victim!†She yelled.
Alan Barnes, her father, turned his head away.
“Sophia was my friend.†Emma could see her father rolling his eyes.
“Sophia was my friend, and I… I slammed my hand in my locker. By accident.†Emma turned her head back to the television and steadfastly refused to acknowledge her father’s existence for the rest of the visiting hours at the hospital.

Thats because Emma is a parasite who is feeding her own delusions through bullying to make herself feel good.
She bullies to prove she isnt a victim because she had to be saved by Sophia. She bullies Taylor because she is a convenient target who she knows won't fight back.
