Writer's block

I have been stuck in a huge block for the last few weeks. I don't know whether it's the fact that I have school now and that English essays and Physics labs are sapping away at my writing ability, or because I've lost the will to write, I can barely get a word on a page anymore for my fics. Today, I barely wrote a paragraph for a new chapter, and for the others, I simply can't continue. I don't know why, but it's frustrating and it's been driving me crazy.

So, how bad has our writer's block gotten in the past? Better yet, how do most of us find a way around it?

Whenever I have writer's block, I just sort of drop whatever I've got the block on and work on something else.

Either that or draw. I find randomly drawing opens up pathways like nothing else.

Perhaps you should take some time off from writing?

I've found that taking a break, and specifically not writing anything can help.

Your mileage may vary.

find someone to who writes similar ideas and get their IM address. Then just pass around the ideas that you do have. The different perspective might lead to a more fruitful path.

Granted, I find that about 60% of the stuff that both people come up with will not probably be used. But, the few gems one finds or figures out are usually worth the effort.
