You are...

So, starting a new little game. This is sort of going to be like the 'how would you handle it' threads, but this is going to be a bit more specific.

Prince Charon gave me the idea for this, and I'm using the same sort of rules.

You wake up one morning to find yourself a different person, in a different place, most usually on a different world. You remember all your old life, including reading/playing/watching where you are now, as well as your new life as whoever you are. You also have all the skills of that person. Essentially, we'll be discussing what we would do if we were suddenly that person. The instigator for the person will be setting the start time.

Let's try to keep a maximum of 3 people at a time, so we don't get too confused.

First up...

You wake up wrapped in a bedroll. It's fucking cold outside, and you realize you're sleeping in a tent on some rocks. You feel stronger than before, and somehow more dexterous, as though you've got an extra brain for your fingers.

You see someone's shadow outside the door of your tent. They shove something through the opening and then leave. It's a letter from your contact. He wants you to come help him out with a person that could be a great help to the cause.

As you look outside and see the city through a thick cloud of steam, you realize...

You are Locke Cole.

~~~
I thought this one might be interesting, as there's a LOT you could do with foreknowledge here.
And... I have no clue who the hell that is.
My own suggestion is...
You're going through your daily routine when-BAM! You start falling into darkness. It's nothing but a big formless void. Then-BAM II! You're out in the middle of a grass field, surrounded by a bunch of people in funny cloaks, talking in gibberish. A really short one with pink hair (Since when do people even have pink hair?) is arguing with some old guy that really reminds you of your highschool science teacher, and seems to be saying something in a rather definite tone.
Then, the girl blushes, before walking over an saying something in nervous tones, before kissing you. On the lips. She than releases you, muttering something else in what appear to be very embareassed tones. Suddenly, your hand sears with excruciating pain, as runes write themselves onto it.
Yeah, you're now in position of one Hiraga Saito.
Deal with it.
I would personaly... lay down the law. I am a freakin' human being. Noble, commoner, or familiar, I am still homo sapien. I wouldn't mock Louise all that much either, let alone drive it home with a song. Yeah, only one spell. That causes explosions. Eventually, I think I could get her to treat me normal.
And while this is going on, I'd do tons of research trying to figure out all I can about magic. Probably also try to point Louise in the right direction for researching Void. And that confontation at the beginning with the duel probably wouldn't happen either. I'm not that confrontational, unless something freakish happens.
Novel Saito or Anime Saito? Because the ability to kill my enemies with whatever I happen to be carrying (or whatever is within arms length) at the time would seriously alter how I conduct my World Domination Plan?.
@Scygnus: As in FFVI? How would that work? Would I suddenly become stronger from killing things?
I've only watched the first season, and haven't read the novels, but since I happen to follow the theory that anything can be a weapon, let's go novel.
Awesome. Well, the first thing I definitely don't do is antagonize Louise. I'd mostly lay low until I figure a way to get into the Queen's 'good graces' (take that how you will) so that I have some actual power.
Of course, I'd still get the talking sword, and I'd probably have to display my 'skills' at some point in order to start moving some relationships forward, but mostly I'd just gather information about the various countries, the political relationships, and Void Magic (although this part would probably be hard to do while keeping a low profile, given how secret Void knowledge seems to be).
I'd probably still rescue Servant-Girl, as it seemed to work out pretty well for the original Saito. I'd also get some poison at the first viable opportunity and start offing some of the players while they don't know that their plans are compromised (Louise's 'fiance' for a start).
Those would basically be the '1st Stage' of my plans, and the development of the rest would depend on how those panned out. Other than those though, I'd probably try to precipitate the same events as in canon while drawing as little large scale attention as possible ('large scale' because my plans would be impossible while remaining a non-entity).
@Scygnus Darkhawk:
I'm LOCKE!?!
TREASURE HUNTIN' TIME, BITCHES!!!
Those of you who don't recognize it... this is Final Fantasy six, pre-game. You've woken up as Locke, and know EVERYTHING that is going to happen.
Honestly, I don't know that there is much that is possible to do to change the plot and avoid BAD END until Kefka attacks Narshe. But if he dies there....
You'd still have to deal with Ghestal. Who is admittedly easier to deal with.
That said, you could do things like hint about strange happenings in Zozo after the Esper jailbreak, bust up the whole betrayal near the end of the first half, and keep Leo alive... stuff like that. Nothing before Kefka goes after Narshe, sure. Except, perhaps, booby-trapping the shit out of that snowfield.
Oh, and maybe even grab Mog waaaaaay early.
You might also be able to prevent the poisoning of Doma, or at least get word that way so they'll have evacuated somewhat. No character growth for Cyan, but I'm pretty sure he won't mind. And, let's face it, Doma's gone one way or another, so he'll still have reason to join up.
You also have to decide whether you're going to try for anything with Terra or Celes, but that's secondary.
