Your Daily...Thing!

Huh. It's National Cinema Day in the US this upcoming Sunday (August 27). All tickets for $4. Time to see if I can find Oppenheimer Gran Turismo in IMAX near me.

That ... ha, ha, ha.. is just sad. But, funny too! Very careless of them (to let the domain expire).

Can't believe the decision was "lets recall snacks" instead of "purchase domain". Then again ... domain squatters can be hard to deal with so, the former could actually be the cheaper option.

But, ha, ha! It's a very silly state of affairs. :D

Oh gods, yet another thing from my childhood adolescent years, gone. TBF, the news articles about it came out in August, but now the final day is here!

Netflix’s DVD-by-mail service bows out as its red-and-white envelopes make their final trip
The DVD service that has been steadily shrinking in the shadow of Netflix’s video streaming service will shut down after its five remaining distribution centers in California, Texas, Georgia and New Jersey mail out their final discs Friday.

The fewer than 1 million recipients who still subscribe to the DVD service will be able to keep the final discs that land in their mailboxes.

Meh... I remember the Blockbuster and related beta and VHS rental stores....
I used to work in a video rental shop.

Five years in customer service has taught me that the people behind the counter aren't trying to sabotage my day, it's just that things aren't going to plan.

I'm pretty sure my Blockbuster card is actually still somewhere in the apartment. I'm just not sure at the bottom of which box or in the back of which drawer.

Earlier this week, my 30 year old bed frame finally gave out... I seems one of the wheels i kept locked somehow unlocked, and tried to roll, causing the entire corner of the frame to twist, even if bent it back, it would not hold. I immediately ordered a replacement, and it arrived late yesterday. I put it in just now.

Not sure I like it yet, but I only finished it 5 minutes ago... the wheels are pure plastic, and the interlock seems like it could give out, but it might hold.

We shall see.

So I'm not sure why this Friday night ended on such a note for me, but earlier tonight I had the chance to try out some truly terrible, bargain-priced, bottom-shelf US whiskey: Seagram's 7.

Me: *sips*
Me: "Wait, this tastes familiar. And bad. But bad in a familiar way."
Me: *goes hunting for a bottle of truly terrible, bargain-priced, bottom-shelf US vodka buried in the back of my freezer*
Me: *does a shot of Rikaloff*
Me: "Oh gods, they taste IDENTICAL. :("

I don't quite know why, but this made me laugh hard. :p

Year of the Dragon now!

I make good money, so theoretically I should be able to afford good things, but I still have bad habits of either cheaping out or waiting until current items start to fall apart. This really hit home when I bought a pair of regular over-the-ear headphones yesterday (nothing fancy, just some Sony brand ones ~$40 USD), and the sound quality on them was a huge step up over the headphones I've probably been using for 6 or 7 years, to the point I was able to literally cut my PC volume in half.
