Heh... have my own addition to weirdness:

Yahoo News just now is showing as a headline 'Cupcake Crackdown', but links to a New York Times article:

DonÆt Even Think of Touching That Cupcake
- http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/23/weekinre.../23kershaw.html

Basically, it claims public schools are cracking down and banning cupcakes due to them being unhealty, having empty calories, and high sugar content.

"A seagull in Scotland has developed the habit of stealing crisps from a neighbourhood shop. The seagull waits until the shopkeeper isn't looking, and then walks into the store and grabs a snack-size bag of cheese Doritos.

Once outside, the bag gets ripped open and shared by other birds.

The seagull's shoplifting started early this month when he first swooped into the store in Aberdeen, Scotland, and helped himself to a bag of crisps. Since then, he's become a regular. He always takes the same type of crisps .

Customers have begun paying for the seagull's stolen bags of chips because they think it's so funny."

I now see Tobi runnign around with his pot and spoon, and then running back to steam clean the messes he leaves behind because he's a good boy.

Did I get that right?

Close.

Now you see Tobi running with his pot and spoon, chasing down people, and attempting to sell them steam cleaners.

Of course, since the name of the cleaner is his name, it certainly causes a lot of confusion....

Well, it's not as bad as a certain Nintendo character being named after a certain vacuum company.
and before someone asks, the Kirby company predates nintendo's Kirby by several decades.
They certainly do, and they are very well made vacuum cleaners. though I've not owned one for awhile, the one I've owned and the slightly older one our neighbor at the time owned were built like tanks.

One note, never relace the main spindle the belt connects to with the optional plastic part, always pay for the metal one. Much more reliable and less prone to crack or jam.

Jack Thompson tries to fight the Halo 3 Release

With the video game event of the year - the Halo 3 launch - just days away, game-hatinÆ attorney Jack Thompson is apparently seeking to re-create one of his greatest non-triumphs.

Although he failed miserably with a similar bid against RockstarÆs Bully in 2006, Thompson hopes to have a Florida court declare Halo 3 a public nuisance. He promised as much late last year (see: Jack Thompson Vows More Public Nuisance Suits Against Games in 2007).

No surprise, really, that Halo 3 is in the media-hungry attorneyÆs crosshairs. Thompson seems to prefer rattling his saber when high-profile game releases are involved. In his latest attention grab Thompson has released the text of what appears to be a court filing in the 11th Circuit, the same jurisdiction in which he failed embarrassingly during last yearÆs Bully case.

Once again, Thompson is basing his claim on a Florida statute which defines public nuisances as that which:

àtend to annoy the community, injure the health of the citizens in general, or corrupt the public morals

To get an idea of what the public nuisance law was really designed for, the types of places named in the statute include:

àany house or place of prostitution, assignation, lewdness or place or building where games of chance [i.e., gambling] are engaged in violation of law or any place where any law of the state is violated, shall be deemed guilty of maintaining a nuisanceà

GP: Not a video game retailer in the bunch.

China Bans Bra, Underwear, Sex Toy Ads
By Associated Press

Sun Sep 30, 8:33 AM

BEIJING - China has banned television and radio ads for push-up bras, figure-enhancing underwear and sex toys in the communist government's latest move to purge the nation's airwaves of what it calls social pollution.

Regulators have already targeted ads using crude or suggestive language, behavior, and images, tightening their grip on television and radio a few weeks ahead of a twice-a-decade Communist Party congress at which some new senior leaders will be appointed.

The latest move by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, or SARFT, also bans advertisements for sexual aids such as tonics that claim to boost performance in bed.

The notice indicated that regulators were concerned about both lascivious imagery and outrageous or insupportable claims about some products' benefits or effectiveness.

"Illegal 'sexual medication' advertisements and other harmful ads pose a grave threat to society," said the SARFT notice, issued in the past week and posted on the administration's Web site.

"They not only seriously mislead consumers, harm the people's health, pollute the social environment, and corrupt social mores, but also directly harm the credibility of public broadcasting and affect the image of the Communist Party and the government," the notice said.

China has already also issued strict rules for TV talent shows, including the banning of "American Idol"-style mass audience voting by mobile phone text message or the Internet.

A few weeks ago, SARFT ordered 11 radio shows off the air in southern and central China for talking too explicitly about sex or for broadcasting material of an "extreme pornographic nature."

Regulators have also banned television shows about cosmetic surgery and sex changes, and a talent show that they deemed coarse.

Not that surprising. People believe that all the constant advertising and sex icons leads to a greater rate of adultery, and such things.
