Good news and bad: It would appear that I've got Covid-19.

I've got the symptoms and so am in quarantine for the next 10 days or so.

I am intending to write something, since I'm going to be at the computer for a while, but I can't promise that any fics I write something for will be existing ones.

Quarantine? Crap.... Also hope you get better soon.

...I'm a bit sick too. Probably just a cold and not COVID-19, but I won't get out of the house anyway.

I'm lucky, assuming the tests I run tonight on my work computer while at home go okay, I'll be able to start working from home on Monday... Could not do this sooner, as there was a backlog in the company to get systems properly set up to work off site for employees that normally would not work from home.

And Lord Raa... I agree with others, take care... don't die (would not want to see all that fan fiction unfinished :) )

Kung Flu update: Didn't sleep well last night. The coughing died down after a while, though I was retching just before I got into bed I was coughing that much.

The biggest issue that interrupted the sleep was the fact that I was too hot, so I'd stretch out and then I'd be too cold, so I'd curl back up to get warm. Then I was too hot. Often all this temperature changing would be in the same minute.

But I'm still alive and intend to continue the new Love Hina idea I started yesterday.

There is something of a situation that I'm having right now. It's not me, but my dad.

My dad is retired. He's also overweight, bad back/knees, hammertoe, and fallen arches. Understandably, he also suffers from general poor mobility(can't walk/be on his feet for extended periods of time).

My dad spends his days now sitting in a chair, and either reading, watching FOX News, or talking on the phone.

He also drinks.

This afternoon, my mom needed my help. My dad was slumped on the floor in a sitting position and he was weepy drunk. He was crying, telling me he's sorry for something. After a few failed tries between my mom and I to lift him onto the bed, we managed to get him onto his side, and as I write this, he's still sleeping on the floor. Maybe when he sobers up, we can help him into bed and he can finish sleeping.

I'm all kinds of scared right now. For as long as I can remember, my dad has always been very much the 'in control' type. Seeing him like that low-grade freaks me out. I want to help him, but I really have no idea how.

UPDATE: Dad is no longer weepy drunk. He's trying to sleep it off. Mom and I tried to get him onto an air mattress, but he's still too far gone to be much help in getting himself on there, even with mom and I helping. I had the idea to deflate the air mattress and inflate it when he's on it. I also thought of actually getting on the phone for medical assistance.

Unfortunately not.

The symptoms have changed slightly - the cough is now slightly productive, as opposed to being "dry" and I've had a runny nose. Sometimes, I'm coughing so much that I start choking and retching. The worst part of this is the coughing has caused my back to hurt, so I'm in constant pain.

Hahahahaha...no. I don't care that it's in a few hours, or that it's already April Fool's in Europe and Asia. Coronavirus-related pranks are not funny.

Not this forum, thankfully. But I've seen it elsewhere. Hopefully, no one else will be as unfortunate as I was. And also have enough sense to not do this thing elsewhere.

Some things... should not be used as joke/prank material...

One reason why I usually avoid browsing the internet on april first, most websites tend to switch over to a prank website and stupid jokes just fill the web.

I usually stop posting in month of May on forums that are active enough. I can't stand attitude of forum goers in May.

Sadly, this forum does not really qualify for that status anymore.

Wait, if this forum isn't active enough for you to stop posting, that means you'll keep posting instead. Silver linings, right?

Here is the most moronic thing I've read today...

Engineer tried to crash train into USNS Mercy in Los Angeles
- https://www.yahoo.com/gma/engineer-...s-angeles-233500380--abc-news-topstories.html

And the reasoning...

Moreno allegedly told officers and FBI investigators that he deliberately derailed the train because he was suspicious of the Mercy's intentions and thought it was actually part of a government takeover, the complaint said.

So, this has been making the rounds on the internet in the last couple of days...

Well, my main internal media and software installation drive is knackered. It's the drive I've installed most programmes I use on as I want to keep the SSD boot drive as clean as possible. I need those sub-30 second boot times in my life - it's not something you can ever go back from, like broadband internet or a widescreen TV.

I've managed to back up most my MP3 collection, which I've accrued over the last 20 odd years give or take some album art. I might lose a few movies, depending on whether or not I can get File Exploder to work and transfer them over to my NAS box.

The biggest annoyance is that I can't do much as lots of things are running slowly and LibreOffice won't open the latest chapter of Orbiters right now.

All fics are currently backed up, for better or worse.

Ouch! That is not so great to hear. :(

Speaking of which, one of these days, I should get myself an NAS. Have not yet found one at a comfortable price-point.

I've had two for a good long time now. Both are Synology Diskstation units. They run a cstomized Linux OS called DiskStation... Really good. Generally, they just plain work... one failed finally a couple years ago, and replaced it with an exact model used off ebay. As your needs grow, you can just replace the drive(s) in the unit. Mine are both Raid5, 4 drive units each.
