The main issue I've had with my prior provider up to the point I asked to be upgraded was the contract I was under had a rent to own policy on their routers, so after 2 years of paying I owned it and would no longer get charged monthly (while it would cost more than a off the shelf, I could still say was using their equipment at a reasonable price)... but any newer contract for the faster speeds would be permanent lease. That held me up wanting to upgrade, until about March this year. I've since learned all the providers in my area are now only offering permanent lease contracts only (anything to get more money).
With my working from home, I wanted the faster speeds to deal with my need to connect into the work servers on top of the other uses, my nephew also needed access for school. The new load was making the internet sluggish, but workable. So when I called up, they were all too happy to say the higher speeds were available, but each appointment time a day or so before they sent me texts cancelling stating needing more engineering time. After 4 cancellations on their part I was done with them.
The current company came in on a single appointment, took a little over an hour due to laying a new line, and was done... everything started right up house wide that was connected to my central wiring. Including the work computer with its VPN and special security.
The only issue I sent them an email on, was I noticed there is some discrepancy on the exact email settings for my email client needed to use their email address, I've found several differing settings on line and I'm having some issues with it... no big deal though as I do not intend to use their email address for anything.
