Hmm...
Regarding the law... I can agree with that. I am for everyone obeying local laws in place.. But at least in the U.S., depending where one lives that is actually less harsh than listening to the doctors.
Regarding any lack of criticism... At least on my part if anything, I am more put out with the politicians fighting such measures in place and the recommendations of doctors, rather than with ones accused of going too far. I do *not* view this as a *rights or political or free speech* issue, I view this as a *medical health* issue. I mostly approve of social distancing and mask wearing and washing hands as safety precautions. I guess any 'passiveness' or lack of criticism on my part in regards to criticizing such measures is the simple fact I'm not in a position to be overly affected by them any more.
I'm probably in the minority... but except a few items. My situation is actually probably better now than a year ago because of the pandemic. I've actually had a mostly happy year, partially because of the changes forced on us. Work, Shopping, Saving, Health, Stress. All those areas are mostly better for me now.
Regarding work... I am because of this pandemic now a home based employed since my company eliminated the location I was based out of as a cost cutting measure. My job as a programmer means I never really did much people interaction at work anyway. And thanks to both my job being spelled out by several managers in recent reviews and discussions is secured at least tentatively until 2027 based on current company plans. And per our latest numbers, we've actually still managed a slight profit this last year over expense, even if they were down slightly from a normal year.
Regarding shopping... Much of my shopping has always been bulk warehouse stores and on-line buying, and also using mail order for medications means less trips to local stores and pharmacies. Since I was already doing this to a good degree it as not a big deal to increase the amount done that way.
Regarding saving... Due to the issues with the mail system in the U.S. (thanks Louis Dejoy, not!), I've moved most of my billing to auto pay and paperless to avoid delays, and did other cost cutting measures. Meaning less actual receiving or sending out of mail, or dropping off items at post box, or worry about late bills. I am also saving on gas, saving on wear and tear on car, I have no commute to work, and have made great strides in improving my credit scores, my finances, and even saving on stamps (due to mail changes). Even clothing bills have gone down.
Regarding health... My health in the last few months has improved a bit per my doctor. I'm in separate news about to have my 2nd vaccination shot on Saturday, which is another plus. Though I could wish to lose more weight (the consequences of being shut in during pandemic & winter).
Regarding stress... Combined with the many other changes, with the recent switch in political power in the U.S. (even if I do have a few reservations about Biden in charge), I'm actually sleeping easier at night than I did with the prior administration. Not really too much to complain about other than the outright lies and idiocy in news.
In summary... As said, mostly better off now. Of course, all of the above is at is at least in part because I've always been a bit of a shut in, though never a complete hermit. I've always preferred quiet nights reading and watching TV to going out. That likely means I adapted far easier than many.
The only things I've had to do were upgrades to my internet speed, and to my home office space. Both minor annoyances that I probably would have eventually done anyway.
