Slowly whittling down my active tabs on my browsers. This is a little bit of an experiment of mine to see if I can be more productive and focused at home while net surfing if I have fewer tabs open. So far, it's working. Been trimming off fanfics I've been meaning to read and anime series I've been meaning to watch in tabs that have been open for six months or longer at a decent rate.
If I may ask, would you be willing to share links to some of those fanfics? Just curious.

Blinks... You keep active tabs for 6+ months? Why? I would just make them favorites/bookmarks. I never keep more than a dozen tabs open, and in fact clear my browser history and tabs upon exit.

Yes, unfortunately. Some of them are Google Docs of fanfics I keep trying to write and have writer's block over but keep them active anyways on the theory that if I put them out of sight, I'm even less likely to write them. It hasn't helped. But I'm getting to the point where I only have a few tabs open, so I'm more likely to work. Weird self-psychological tricks I'm experimenting with. Others (not 6 months old though) are game guides for games I'm actively playing through, too.

Firefox has Pinned Tabs. If you have that feature, just stick Google Docs on the left. :D

Going to my first house showing on Tuesday. Houses are relatively cheap where I am at but people just aren't listing anything. First house in 2 months that even fits my criteria that has been posted

Just out of curiosity, you willing to list age or type or lot size you looking for? I'm not asking anything personal or what specific address or cost, just curious what looking for... Ranch, Bungalow, Country, Manufactured, 2/3/4 bedroom... etc...

I've been looking at mostly bungalows, 1000-2000 square feet with 2-4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I'll probably do some renovating. It's entirely likely I'll rent a room out to a co-worker whenever I do get a house purchase.

Interesting... good luck... my own preference is smaller ranch style with a basement and a separated garage. Which is my current house... it really restricted the field, as that exact combination is not that common, at least in my area.

My paternal grandparents had a ranch-style house. Loved that place. Always found it odd that nobody ever used the living room or the formal dining room, though...

I find myself using a really old Macbook Air (11 inch) from 2012. The portable-ness of the system is nice (for web browsing), keyboard is good. But the screen? That sucks. The resolution is 1366x768 which, is taking me time to get used to.

It just feels weird needing to zoom in on text or to squint my eyes to read what's on-screen. Hope I'm not getting old...

I went to a house showing on Tuesday. I had to give it a pass. Too much renovation required for my tastes, plus the internal layout was atrocious. No master bedroom, either (or any bedroom that was bigger than like 90 square feet, really).

All the bedrooms under 90 sq ft? Pretty small... if I may ask, how many sq ft was the house itself? 700 sq ft ish? More? My own house is on the smaller side, but even the smallest bedroom is bigger than that, if not by much (meant more as a guest room, or office than a full bedroom). Of course, I make up for that smaller size with the finished basement.

Still.. that size could work for someone whom does not need a lot in the way of space needs, or serve as a starter house. I once considered looking at smaller 600-800sq ft ranches for cost efficiency myself, but decided on bigger as like you I disliked the floor layouts I saw at the 600-800sq ft options available. May still look at such a thing in my retirement years, but that is fairly far off still.

Supposedly, new house construction in the U.S. has the average floor space of the new builds in recent years at around 2300 sq ft, that is a drop from a few years ago, when it was nearing 2700 sq ft... to be honest, I find that way larger than most should need.

I know some people in expensive areas have ridiculously small apartments, but that does not compare to houses.

The entire house was about 1300 square feet. 4 bedrooms, each of which were almost identical sized. Eyeballing the square footage based off a couple of years of working in construction with measuring tapes. It was just a weird layout in general. Large den, large living room, really tiny bedrooms. Definitely an old-style house for when people had larger families and master bedrooms weren't really as big a thing, but then it never really got fully renovated after that point.

Fighting with the financing company my father got his car loan from for the past few weeks. TD;LR version: Payment sent in via check, check cashed, payment not applied to right account, company giving us the run-around. Driving me nuts. Ugh. Seriously, you have the proof of the cashed check, you have the check number, quit fucking around and fix this, you assholes!

Sorry for the rant. Just very frustrating.

Last time I had that level of incompetence to slice through happened was years ago with National City Bank aka NCB now part of PNC... had more issues with that finanical institution than all others combined and included such bizare things like:
1. once accused me of forging my own signature (had to get dealership involved on that one)
2. due to delaying me getting the payment book (see above) I made my first payment over the phone, but was warned to ignore any phone calls stating it was delinquent despite confirming it went through ok. since that is a separate computer system
3. warned me it would take a few days to process a cash payment one time I wanted to insure it was paid on time
4. teller at branch once asked *me* personally if it was ok for them to process my car payment as a house mortgage payment...

Ugh... they actually made it hard for me to pay them. It is the one can loan bank company I've warned dealers I'll walk out if offered to me.

Yeah, ouch. Dealing with banking/financing is not always easy. Hope it ends up well for you.

Thanks. To top off the day, was heading out to my living room after getting dressed and tripped. Landed right on my left elbow, so now I can barely bend or move it. Just been a lovely day... /s

Back to the shutdown grind. I am expecting about 260 work hours in 22 days. Thank Buddha that comes with a killing in OT pay.
