Ugh... stupid republicans have decided that they need to bring Sesame Street to task, again... Apparently they are in an uproar over the idea that the makers had big bird explain he had been vaccinated. They are calling it government propaganda ..but ignoring the fact that the show is privately owned. (I'm a bit amused at the concept of a government official being upset at this and calling it government propaganda, when it is not actually being done by the government)

https://www.yahoo.com/news/big-bird-vaccine-announcement-sparks-181621345.html

I am far more disturbed that one congressman actually joked about big bird dying from it 7 days later....

As I recall, Big Bird got vaccinated in the 1970's as well, on screen no less.

Sesame Street ... the show is privately owned ...
Wait, really? I thought Sesame Street was a PBS thing and well, from the name, Public Broadcasting Service, used to believe that it was publicly owned. Or at least that the US government (either Federal/State level) has some ownership stake in it.

Just got the Covid-19 Vaccine Booster shot... and the flu vaccine shot
Huh. I thought medics were a little leery about giving two different types of vaccines at the same time.

PBS *DOES* *AIR* it, and they have for a very long time. But they do not *OWN* it.

Though Big Bird and the other Sesame Street characters are among the most iconic faces of PBS, the broadcaster doesn't actually own the show or its characters. Instead, they're owned by SW, which has produced the series since it debuted in November 1969.

Please tell if there are any side-effects.

My own doctors office had never really had any form of problem giving multiple shots at the same time. I've had that in the past with other shots (tetanus and flu both come to mind as having gotten with other shots)... I do know there are specific combinations they do not recommend getting together.

The arm they gave the flu shot in had a stinging sensation for a little while afterward, but not much else in way of side effects.

The arm they gave the booster in ached, but did not sting, for most of latter part of day yesterday after getting it.

I only felt a light pinch from each of the actual injections.

The main side effect I've had from each of the initial Covid vaccine shots and now the same with this booster is the mere fact that I feel tired and run down and want to sleep more.. if the pattern holds I'll feel that way into tomorrow but will be fine after that.

I got the initial shots back in late March and mid April. Those were Pfizer. I got the booster yesterday, that was also Pfizer.

I figured since I was at the doctors office anyway I'd ask on getting myself up to date on all my shots and they gave me the option of getting just one then either coming back or going elsewhere for the other, or just getting both now. They were willing to work with me on that based on what i was most comfortable with. I figured best to get it all over and done with.

Well... first snow of season today. No way will it stay no matter how much comes down, and unlikely I'll need to shovel it... the highs in the next couple days are in the 40sF, and it is supposed to be in the 60sF on Wednesday.

In other news... I've had a lot of odd equipment failures around the house this last month. So far, I've replaced one smoke detector, one dvd/blu ray player, I've ordered a new dryer (due to arrive 11/22), and I've ordered a new exercise bike (due to arrive sometime early December)... Luckily, while it is not yet Black Friday or Cyber Monday in the U.S, its biggest public sales days, I've been taking advantage of places offering early Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals... and saved some $600 combined on all of it.

This may sound sacrilegious, but between Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, and Starship, I've kind of lost track of which band did which songs. This gets even worse when both Jefferson Starship and Starship have two iterations for each of them: the original line-up and then a post-hiatus revival with a nearly completely new crew.

Honestly, all I can remember is that Jefferson Airplane did 'White Rabbit', and Starship did 'We Built This City'.

I couldn't tell you about any other songs were done by the band(s).

Of those three I only know Starship, and them only for "We got the Beat Patrol", and "We Built this City". I want to say I had heard of Jefferson Starship, no clue about Jefferson Airplane. (checking them briefly on YouTube, I cringe, so definitly would remember listening to their stuff).

To be honest... my own tastes tend toward :
- what used to be called Light Rock (Laura Brannigan, Tiffany, Paula Abdul, Jewel, Madonna, Patty Smythe, Shania Twain, Roxette).
- Pop Rock (Beach Boys, Everly Brothers, Frankie Avelon, Annette Funecello, Zanger and Evans, Rip Cords, Wonders).
- Country (Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Josh Turner, Eddie Rabbit, Clint Black).
- For newer stuff... think a bunch by Lindsey Stirling & Caitlin Deville, 2 songs by Ava Max, 2 songs by Alec Megane, 1 song by Steam Powered Giraffe, 2 songs by Mariah Carey, and a ton of Caleb Hyles, a number of songs by Rednex and Cruxshadows and Smile DK

Almost everything else. is either AMV's or MV's or OST's.

Pro MMA fighter arrested for allegedly stabbing, killing doctor after COVID-19 vaccine argument

This incident was in Guam.. and the fighter was named as Akmal Khozhiev

Sigh... All the senseless death and violence occurring over a supposedly life saving vaccine (both in offering it and taking it) is disheartening...

I do not understand it either. It has become so politicized and it's only hurting those that choose, through their convictions, not to get it. Okay, well, it's also hurting the people who need emergency health care but can't get it because hospitals are full of anti-vaxxers. That part really sucks, and puts paid to the lie, "It's not hurting anyone else!" when they choose not to get it.
Literally 25 percent of the entire planet is fully vaccinated and no zombie apocalypse has started, and we know the media would be ALL over some outbreak of symptoms. I think now it's become a matter of principle just to be contradictory. Eventually a strain will mutate and wreak holy hell and they'll complain that no one tried to protect them, but that's probably a year away at least. I will be quite happy if that never happens, but know just enough about virology to be concerned.
I got my 3rd shot at the end of August, being that I'm immunocompromised due to meds. It waited a day, then knocked me on my ass for 4 days by draining every ounce of energy I had, but had no other symptoms at all other than a sore arm. Still, totally worth it.

That was my own view. A sore arm and being run down for a couple days in my case, I'd rather go through that a dozen times or more than actually get a disease that can at least potentially leave me dead, or with permanent health issues like lung, heart or brain damage.

This is not really either rocket science, nor a political thing, it is a *public and personal safety issue*. This is not going to care about political party or race or location, but certainly will care whether vaccinated or not, or immunocompromised or not (be it by disease or medication or some other angle). People should for best safety practices wear a mask when in public, wash hands when get home, keep up with any boosters, and avoid people not vaccinated.

A pandemic is *exactly* why we have the CDC and WHO organizations... we should be following them, not politicians or even news reporters or other doctors with differing opinions.

Sigh... and most of these arguements against it are senseless and garbage and I can't take anyone using them serious...
- We mandate in the U.S. other vaccinations (measles & polio, to name two).
- We do not have liquid and magnetic computer tech for tracking.
- If the gov't of a country wanted to track us, they can track by cell phone, which they've been able to do for most for last decade plus.
- Anyone willing to get a shot of anything else, like that Remdesivir or Ivermecton or even a flu shot should have no reason not to get the vaccine shot.
- As you pointed out, there is now billions of observable data on reactions to these vaccinations...
- We have in the U.S. alone... over 770,000 dead and over 47million cases (a few counts are even higher) because of this thing, and some people still claim it is not serious.

I think part of the problem stems from perceived hypocrisy. Plenty of "left-leaning" people in the run up to the 2020 election were very sniffy about the vaccine.

Both Biden and Harris were reluctant to get the "Trump vaccine", but after they were voted in, they changed their tune pretty quickly.

Covid does have high survival rate, yes. It also means that underlying health conditions can become more serious as it takes a toll on the immune system.

Unless your doctor recommends that you don't get vaccinated, you should get vaccinated.

They aren't putting microchips in you and 5G does not spread the coronavirus.

That's not really true, and that "fact" being spread (not blaming you, just referencing the spread in general) helps further the disinformation. Biden and Harris questioned Trump and his ability to roll it out safely, not the vaccine itself. That's the danger of the selective nature of today's zeitgeist. Politifact.

I cannot recommend wearing a steps counter (pedometer) enough. I don't know how many steps I take for the sake of logging more steps, but it still is extra exercise!

Recent Android updates have put Google Fit onto your phone, so if you carry your phone with you, you can have a vague idea of how much exercise you're getting. I use wireless headphones so I can charge my phone and listen to stuff while I'm at work, so my count stopped being so accurate.

That's when I decided to get a cheapo smartwatch/fatness tracker. As of this message, I've done (according to my watch) 12343 steps and covered 8.6km distance.

I do have a smartphone, but I don't carry it with me everywhere I go. So I mostly nix using a phone.

Not sure I would want a phone tracking my fitness or health.

I currently have a feature phone for personal use (does not even have a camera), though I likely will need to update to a smart phone in about 4 months, as they are phasing out 3G in the U.S. I was thinking of getting a refurb Nexis 2, as that is about the right size I want (still a bit big in my opinion, but reasonable still), and will still just barely support Android 11.

My being home based require I have a Android based smartphone, I don't ever see a bill, corporate gets the monthly bill and does not tell me how much it is... but it is currently in a desk clamp and is almost never moved from that clamp because my company require I replace the phone on my own if ever damaged. Samsung Galaxy S10e... literally about 30x the cost of my feature phone... I've installed exactly 1 app on it, required for work...

That happened in England!?
