Am in need of opinions

I have been thinking of upgrading my current Plantronics Gamecon 780 to a more better headset for gaming. I no longer have a need for a mic capable headset as my blue yeti mic will take care of that. I've been looking at Sennheiser headsets as I've seen a few people use it.

What kind of headsets do you people use? I'm looking for comfort, good very high quaility sound and dependable item. Price maybe less then 250, maybe 200.

I use a set of Beyerdynamic MMX 300. My particular model is outside of your price range, but the sound quality and comfort level of Beyerdynamic can't be beat. The MMX 300 has a mic attached to it and is professional quality.

The Beyerdynamic 880 Pro is $197 on Amazon right now, down from $379 and it's a deal you're not going to beat anywhere. The 770 Pro at $158, but honestly the 880 is a better deal and a better set of headphones. Unless you're really trying to pinch pennies for some reason, I recommend spending the extra cash and going with the 880.

I guarantee you're not going to get a better set of headphones for the price anywhere. Beyerdynamic is a German family owned company and audiophiles cream their shorts at the mere mention of their name. It's super high quality audio, very dependable high quality construction, and very comfortable to wear.

There is a 990 for around $250, but I don't recommend it because it's for studio use and the earpieces have an open back. They sound nice, but are meant to not block out outside sounds. Unless that sounds like a nice feature to you I'd go with the 880.

Beyerdynamic headphones will spoil you, I don't like using other headphones anymore since I got mine because they seem cheap and don't sound as good.

Will these fit in a standard headphone jack on a system? I've been looking at the pictures and am little worried about the plug.

Edit - I see that the plug unscrews into a smaller plug. Nice.

Yeah, the 1/4 inch plug is nice if you have a receiver with that kind of output, but most computers only have a 3.5mm audio out for headphones. Best of both worlds here. I don't see myself buying headphones from another company if they remain this consistently awesome in the future. My MMX 300 is the best set of headphones I've ever owned.

Welp, I ordered it and I should have it by this coming up Tuesday. Can't wait to try it out. Do you know how noise-cancelling it is?

But the price is good and is cheaper then the Sennheiser ones I've been looking at.

If there's no audio going to it you can hear the outside world if a bit muffled. It's not going to make you effectively 100% deaf. If someone is trying to call you from outside the room you'll likely not notice unless they're right outside your door if you're just wearing them without any audio feed. They should completely cover your ears, so noise canceling 'technology' like some earbuds and small headphones have is kind of unnecessary.

If there is sound at a normal level going to the headphones you're not likely to hear anything from the outside world unless something particularly loud happens in the room with you. Complete immersion and all that. I've got a 7.1 receiver hooked up to my computer, but I still sometimes use the headphones for listening to music and watching movies. I almost always play games wearing them. When in use you're pretty cut off from the world, when they aren't on but you're wearing them you'll probably notice nearby sounds.

I'm alright with that. Need to have some sound going on for emergencies and the like. What you are describing sounds like my other HS so I'm cool with that.
