I was just thinking about a Harry/Tonks soul-bond fic idea and would like to issue a challenge. Unlike most soul-bond fics, it wont be love at first sight, or even second (like most Honks fics are).
The main premise is this:
While Tonks is in Hogwarts during Harry's first year she meets Harry in an odd way (or a normal way). They could bump into each other in the owlery, she could trip down the stairs and land on Harry (or vise verse) or they could both reach for the same book in the library; and this one tiny event would be enough for their magic to determine that their compatible enough for the potential of a soul-bond.
What could cause the soul-bond to form could be any number of reasons:
1. They truly happen to be soul-mates.
2. Their magic is so compatible that their magic begins to intwine, causing their souls to bond in order to save their lives.
3. They're hit by a curse/prank gone wrong tying their souls together.
What are the reactions of not only the adults (such as the professors and ministry) but also Nymphadora Tonks? Do they even know about it? If so, Tonks could be:
1. Denying everything to do with the bond, believing that she's far to young to be bound by something akin to marriage. She might even try to break the bond (don't go emo on this please?)
2. Resigned to it but trying not to think about what it means until Harry's older.
3. Not really caring about the way it effects her life outside of the fact that she's effectively married.
What does Harry think?
How long does it take Tonks and/or Harry to accept?
The bond can form no later than November.
Must be canon-ish for the first three books, but can diverge further during book four.
Tonks and Harry MUST share a bed at night to sleep to help the bond form. If they have to share said bed sans clothes then all the better (you could have Skeeter find out about it and trouble could ensue).
Harry might gain a crush on another witch (Cho Chang or Hermione) in his Fourth Year. If so, Tonks might be feeling jealous without realizing it.
