Anime ear candy

I was scrolling through my iPod earlier and noticed that the 'Top 25 Most Played' playlist was topped by some soundtracks I ripped from DVD's. This got me wondering; I've read threads on favorite animes, favorite stories, favorite quotes... are you guys also into some of the ear candy out there? Or do you just FFWD to the action?

I always play the AMG-TV series's "Open Your Mind" or FMP fumoffu's "The Wind that Blows You" when traffic gets too heavy.

I know the original DoCo's work is good, but you have to listen to the DoCo USA version of "Red Shoe Sunday" as well. Cathy Weseluck and Willow Johnson do it justice.

And while Love Hina's fast-paced opening theme is fun to try to sing-along to, the slower-paced version sung by the girls in solos during the festival at the end of the beach-side tea house arc is very sensual. I really liked the parts by (and the singing voices of) Haruka and Kitsune's seiyus.

So, come on! We may not know the lyrics or mistrust the subtitles, but some of you must have a favorite song or voice. I've told you mine, what's yours?

I am a big fan of L'arc~en~Ciel, for better or worse, that gives us Blurry Eyes, Driver's High, Ready, Steady, Go.

The combination of Maaya Sakamoto and Yoko Kanno is made of win, too.

I also like Toki Hanate from Blue Gender.

Hmm, There be too many for me to list here, so I'll end this now :p

I myself do not bother attempting to link my anime music, but I do anime music videos, though my listing program can properly report them anyway (current anime and non anime (but not game related) music and videos is at 4990 entries as of Sunday, game related was at 1435 entries as of Sunday. Perhaps I could try to do so, but it would be a massive undertaking. Besides, some is licensed, some is not, and sources are from all over the place from the last 7 years.

I always play the AMG-TV series's "Open Your Mind" or FMP fumoffu's "The Wind that Blows You" when traffic gets too heavy.
For AMG, I prefer the S2 full opening and full ending myself, and play it a lot. Those are 'Shiawase no Iro' and 'Bokura no Kiseki'

I do like the fumoffu opening as well.

This last year another favorite has been Vandreed's first opening song (not 2nd stage).

The one that starts "And you don't seem to understand..."?

Maybe I gave the wrong band name...or maybe my memory is just off. It's been five or six years since I saw Lain. Mea culpa.

My favorite top 5 anime music...
AMG TV Second Opening 'Shiawase no Iro' by Yoko Ishida (prefer it over the first one, although the first one is also good. And yes Lord Raa, Bagpipes and all. :snigger: )
Bleach Ending 'Houki Boushi' by Younha
From Otogizoshi 'Shining' by Kawabe Chieko
Gundam Seed Opening 4 'Realize' by Nami Tamaki
Bleach First Ending 'Life is Like a Boat' by Rie Fu

There are a lot of others (some just 'missed' the list), but the above are my top five. Oh, and no, I have not seen Otogizoshi. The way I found the song was by looking up Kawabe Chieko since I liked another song from her (the Elfen Lied ending song. Which seems like a strange song given the series...). Found out I like 'Shining' more. :p

I shall admit that I like the opening and closing themes to Love Hina, and the original opening theme for Mahou Sensei Negima.

Being somewhat able to speak Japanese means that I'm always listening to songs over and over until I can sing them aloud from memory. A small selection of my favorites is as follows (in no particular order):

Naruto ending thirteen, "Yellow Moon," by Akeboshi.

Naruto ending twelve, "Parade," by Chaba.

Ushio & Tora opening, "Yuuki no Fighter," by Yasu.

Dragonball GT opening, "Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteru," by Hironobu Kageyama (I think).

Gravitation, "Shuichi's Theme," (instrumental).

Elfen Lied ending, "Be Your Girl," by Chieko Kawabe.

Chrono Crusade ending, "Sayonara Solitaire," by Saeko Chiba.

He is My Master ending, "Aijou no Katamari," by Izumi (I think).

Mahou Sensei Negima opening, "Happy Material" (all versions), by Mahora Class 2-A.

ALI PROJECT FTW.

Actually, almost by entire music collection is anime OSTs, pretty much all full collections I downloaded. I have like, every Final Fantasy OST, every Guilty Gear, every Sailor Moon, every Bubblegum Crisis. I think all have all the pillows albums, and I have most Puffy stuff maybe. Maybe all the Gundam Seed stuff.

I wish I could make a play list, but I don't have a plug in for foobar that will give one.

I only have like two English collections, and I'm inclined to delete Rammstein since I never listen to it.

As to favorite songs... geez, that's hard to pick, it changes a lot for me.

Coro di dea (A!MG the Movie)
Sora ha kataranai (Onegai Teacher)
Shiawase no Iro (A!MG s2)
Shizuku (GTO)
Tenshi no Teeze (NGE)
Sore ga ai deshou (FMPF)

well seems like someone already said Yoko Kanno... damn good music that lady makes!

I'm also quite partial to Kotoko especially
"Second Flight" from Onegai Twins,
"Shooting Star" from Onegai Teacher,
"Seupparation - core", "Re-sublimity" and "Agony" from Kannadzuki no Miko.

Maaya Sakamoto has a great singing voice, loved all her work on Escaflowne (tv and movie).

"Blaze Away" by TRAX from the Eyeshield21 anime.

Many of the intros and endings to Bleach anime have caught my fancy.

while the TV version of Sakura Saku was nice, I loved the slow version by Megumi Hayashibara ('Aunt' Haruka)

"Lilium" by Kumiko Noma from Elfen Lied took my breath away.

I LOVED the Akira Sudou - Sekiria Album made for Bubblegum Crisis 2040 (wonder how it would have been had Yuu Asakawa [Motoko from Love Hina and Priss in BGC2040] had sung instead).

As for anything Gundam related... "Just Communication" by Two Mix, "Invoke" "Meteor", "Vestige" by T.M. Revolution

The only anime music I seem to always listen to is the Beck music. I even bought the soundtrack.

Got a few I listen regularly.

Berserk: Sign and Sign-2, both nice tracks by Susumu Hirasawa.

.hack//G.U. - ??????is my favourite battle theme (track 19 from disc 2), however there are several themes fromt here that I love also. ALI Project 'Dwindled Bible' and the opening for .hack//ROOTS is also awesome.

Hellsing OVA - 27. Gradus Vita and Marche Funebre, the two beautiful classical orchestra ending to the new anime, grab these since you'll be stunned. By Hayato Matsuo & the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra.

X - Can't do one of these threads without mentioning Sadame (Destiny), as well as Requiem and Last Battle, great tunes to mellow and feel empowered.

I'm also partial to game soundtracks, moving into Silent Hill territory, as well as Guilty Gear XX, Kingdom Heart, Tekken 5, NAMCO VS Capcom, etc.

I've listened to a lot, my collection almost consists of ambient and soundtracks, to the point where I have trouble playing conventional music since I like the orchestra sounds so much... However, I'll still keep listening to them.

I actually like the opening theme song "Change the World" by V6 for Inuyasha.
For some reason, I found the ending song for Nanoha A quite catchy...

I second L'Arc~en~Ciel, Asian Kung-fu Generation, Orange Range, and pretty much anything Yoko Kanno ever got her hands in.

Oh, and The Pillows.

There's a unique contender I must bring up. It's an OP theme that I wouldn't spend much time listening to outside the anime it's created for, but is done so spectacularly and fits the show so well that I actually go against type and watch/listen to the full OP on every episode.

I'm referring to Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni.

It's creepy. The scratchy, staticky sounds... the group of background singers keeping you guessing as to what they're saying at times... the imagery used in the opening animation, the imagery present in the lyrics... and the fact that, through all this, the song is still quite appealing. *shudder*

It's simply a perfect match to the anime for which it was made. It sets the tone for watching the show, in every way possible.

...oh yeah, and Hare Hare Yukai.

I'll add Jam Project to the list of artists I listen to.

Yes, camp abounds, but it's not as much as early L'arc~en~Ciel (hint watch the video for Blurry Eyes and weep :p )
