Anime Island challange

Was watching CN the other day and the show Total Drama Island... which got me thinking....

A long time ago there was a fic series known as the Surreal World... and it was good... Essentially it took the 'Real World' format and substituted anime charcters from different series as the cast...

Well here's the challange than..

I challange you to write a parody of the 'Survivor' Genre with various anime charcters as the cast to compete against each other.

RUles are simple

12-24 characters as contestents...

NO more than 3 charcters can come from the same series... (However cameo appearances by other charcters from the series either dropping in or watching at home are allowed.)

-definitly crack flavored challanges and intereactions are suggested.

hmm... now who should be hte host?

I'm torn between Xelloss and Gendo myself.....

Hee hee... How about throw in an aspect of that "Celebrity Love Island" idea, and have them also perform challenges to find their ideal.

So, we might have Keitaro Urashima, Naru Narusegawa, and Mutsumi Otohime from LH; Keiichi Morisato, Belldandy, and Peorth from A!MG; Ranma Saotome, Akane Tendo, and... Ukyo Kuonji from R1/2?

I remember the surreal world... it was surprisingly well done for the short time it ran. I liked it since it was a nice selection of varied individuals from different series, If I recall no two of the chosen cast were from the same show (though guests and cameos visited) all in character.

I remember people trying survivor before... they would have commenter vote on who gets eliminated (IE they had no plans for how they wanted things to go -_-) so it didn't work out well... That's the thing about the survivor and many other 'reality show' formats is that characters are going to get eliminated so you need to figure who you want to keep and who's going but at the same time not underplay characters that aren't sticking around for the long hall... you need to give everyone decent screen time while kept in character to make it really good.

The best other 'reality show' anime thing I saw was a play on the Mole. I toyed around with an idea of the amazing race, hopping worlds and completing challenges but getting everything balanced (and finding good challenges) was hard so it never came to fruition.

Nabiki would do quite well... an expert manipulator and liar. She is a great actor able to crate tears on cue and is always thinking three steps ahead of everyone else... if the cash prize was enough (and she couldn't con someone into doing it in her stead) she;d be a great choice...

Though it's easier to see her as a 'watcher' running numbers and betting pools on who will win the whole she bang but her as a contestent would be interesting. It would just have to be 'worth her time' though considering what she when through in her battle with the 'king of debt' to win only 10 yen it might be easier then expected...

:huh: She isn't an expert liar and manipulator? Care to expand your argument a bit? I can find canon references and actions to back my statement up...

or are you more refering to 'three steps ahead' comment. That was more poetic license on my side. Though the few Nabiki centric chapters have shown such this way.

Basically, Nabiki is an expert liar and manipulator...by Nerima standards... :sweat2:
In other words, she is perfectly average Japanese schoolgirl with a mean streak in town full of dumbass.
She is also the very example of the "city girl" which is the reason why having her in a "survival show" on some random deserted island is so amusing to me... :evil2:

Really? That's awesome, I loved that show when it was on. Do you know if it's still around?
Somewhat more on topic: With something like that, where one 'contestant' is actually actively trying to sabotage the others, how easy would it be to write that? Because I know on the real show the Mole had to be very careful about how far they went in their attempts, else they got caught out too early.

Wasn't there a reality TV show on Fox where they tested how strong a couple was by tempting the indiviuals - Temptation Island or something. Where there were like 6 couples and another dozen single guys and single girls. The couples weren't married or allowed to have children together yet, and their partner had to pick someone for them to go on a date with from the pool of single guys/girls. Then after each date night the women and men in the couples would vote out one of the singles from the same pool - coupled women eliminate a single woman, and the guys do the same. I think, I don't know because I never watched the show, but I think that only one couple could win the money in the end, so they had to keep single people who were a threat to other couples around long enough to get that couple eliminated.

So, working from this rough premise we have representing the couples -

Ranma and Akane - Ranma 1/2
Keitaro and Naru - Love Hina
InuYasha and Kagome - InuYasha
Miroku and Sango - InuYasha
Yukino Miyazawa and Soichiro Arima - Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances)
Sailor Moon/Serenity and Tuxedo Mask - Sailor Moon


And some other famous anime couples could be considered for this? I was thinking Rick Hunter and Lisa Hayes from Robotech/Macross, but they end up married. The Kare Kano characters are less insane, and end up getting married at the end of the series, but during the bulk of the series they have lots of issues to overcome. Not so sure about other characters from other anime.
