Akamatsuverse Another Negima/Love Hina crossover instance

I picked this little tidbit up accidently over on Wikipedia. According to the notation there, if you look at Negima volume ten, right behind Kotaro when the Tournament preliminaries start, guess who's back there laughing at him? Yep, that's Seta!

And if Seta's there, then maybe that Mei witch in Negima is Naru's little sister Mei after all? After all, the Love Hina manga never says that Mei's last name is Narusegawa, particularly considering how it implies that she and Naru have different fathers.

Yep, that's Seta... and Naru's standing right next to him.

Also, in the "Where's Negi?" sequence at the beginning of Volume 3, if you look a little up and right from Asuna and Konoka, two girls are standing there that are almost perfect copies of Naru and Kitsune when they were junior highers (as witnessed in Kitsune's flashback when she was telling Keitaro about her history with Naru).

Gag cameos, not much good for anything besides fanfiction fodder. I actually believe there are some distance figures that remind people of Motoko (or was that Tsuruko?) in a flashback with Setsuna and Konoka. *shrug* Mei is extremely unlikely to be related in canon, but it DOES make a good fanfic idea. Also, I believe that Akamatsu has pretty much implies, if never actually stated, that the anime Mei was canon. Of course, Akamatsu has had a few... problems with continuity so...

Konoka's flashback had both of our lovely Aoyama sisters, actually. And I take the manga as canon over the anime any day of the week, and Manga!Mei looks goddamn EXACTLY like Negima!Mei.

Like I said, Akamatsu sometimes has... problems keeping things straight. Not anywhere near Kishimoto levels, but still slacking at points.

Also, got a volume/page number that manga!Mei shows up? I honestly don't recall her in the manga...

Volume 14, during the wedding. You can see her in one scene standing beside Shinobu and Nyamo as they're talking with Haitani and Shirai, then again on the final page where she's standing next to Ema (and below Kanako) next to Seta's van as Keitaro's getting chased by Naru.

I do recall someone resembling Seta, but it's a whole different person... Besides we all know that Akamatsu recycled art from Love Hina to Negima, so familiar faces are bound to show up, nothing strange with that.

You're thinking of Takahata, who's kinda similar to Seta, but they look hardly alike each other. No, Seta himself makes a small cameo in book ten alongside Naru.

I don't think that's Naru next to him; if you look closely, you can see that that girl's hair is wrong. While it seems to be the same color, and she has the one strand going up, closely looking at it shows that she has very long bangs, but apparently no long hair in the back.

It's hard to tell wether or not she has long hair, because she's stuck in the very corner and turned so that the spot where any long hair would be visible is just out of sight off the page. Still, it looks exactly like her, and I'm pretty sure her clothing is a costume she's worn at several different points in the Love Hina manga.

And then again seeing that a lot of art and data from Love Hina got recycled here, it's more likely that it's NOT her.
