Ah, thanks!

Hmm.

Looks like much of what was different in Shirou's experiences was due, directly or indirectly, to the interference of his possible future self.

I suspect the big turnaround probably happened at the big fight vs. Berserker. It says he didn't necessarily have a sexual relationship with Saber and Rin, and that he "failed to free Saber," so that probably means Saber lost that fight. The fact that Archer!Shirou hadn't learned projection until much later than that fight reduces their chance of victory to nearly nothing.

...Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling that the friend who betrayed EMIYA was Matou Shinji? Starting shit, getting in trouble, being saved by Shirou, then blaming the trouble on his rescuer... that sounds suspiciously like Shinji's MO.

Yes, but you forget that there are several things that are different in Archer's timeline. For one, the Archer that Rin summoned wasn't Emiya. It's possible that, instead of leaving Archer to fend off Berserker momentarily, they all ran and were able to re-group, which left it as a four-on-one.

Or it could possibly have been that Gilgamesh showed up earlier then in the Fate route and killed Ilya and Berserker ala UBW. It's hard to guess how many events went similarly to Archer's timeline then to any of the three scenarios, or if there were ANY events besides the basic ones that connected.

And also, Shinji could have very well been off-ed already. Remember, in both Fate and HF he gets killed (either by Berserker or Sakura). He doesn't exactly have a high survival rate. Although, that would have been unbearably ironic if it were Shinji... -_-
