Evangelion Asuka's father... What's his name?

To my knowledge, it wasn't mentioned, anime or manga. Hell, Asuka's mother was barely mentioned as it is.

Make it up. Something German, like... Ludwig. *Shrug*

EDIT: Actually, IIRC, in the manga version, Asuka is a test-tube baby. Her biological father wasn't mentioned at all.

Can't recall it ever being mentioned. Heck, for all we know, Asuka doesn't even have a father given that he was never mentioned (only her mother). So, following the rule of it not being mentioned in the series, just make it up!

Actually, he was mentioned in the anime, only in passing though. The reason it came up is that Asuka got a call from her step-mother (whom she has no fondness for) during the anime.

Damn... Asuka as a test tube baby. That would explain a lot :p

I orginally plan to make up his name but just thought i might check if anyone knew of his proper name. Just want to avoid reviews like - "His name ..." :p

I see. So she does have a father in the anime. Hmm. Well, that could explain why she was always having problems then.

Again, following the rule that if his name is not mentioned, then make up your own! Since I don't know it (and I pretty much know most of the series), than it is a safe bet that his name was not mentioned at all.

Now, Asuka manga being a test tube baby? Hehehe. Could explain a few things. ^_^

Tsuruko's husband was never mentioned in Love Hina, so in any fic featuring him the writer simply makes up a name. The same applys in this situation.

Yup! I named him Tetsuo in my LH fic, and Hawker 748 named him Toshio. ^_^

But back to Asuka's husband. Given that the Japanese part of Asuka came from her mother (since her name is Sohryu Kyoko Zeppelin), you would have to come up with a German or American name for the father. From what I can gather, the debate seems to be how much German/American her father is. Though looking at the name, Langley, which I assume is a surname, more German? Or German American? Though where the heck did the Zeppelin come from...

Zepplin was the name of a famous German dude who invented the airship that bears his name. Perhaps Asuka's father is related to this guy?

If Wonga does use Zepplin. I'm waiting for one of the mothers to ask if he is related to anyone named Led Zepplin.....and yes, I can see atleast Naoko doing it.

All of the surnames in Evangelion are named after WWII ships. Ayanami, Katsuragi, Akagi, etc.

BTW, Langley is the stepmother's last name, I seem to recall. But I believe that Asuka's father is also German.

I can't believe I didn't notice that... :(

The Japanese aircraft carriers Sohryu and Akagi were sunk at Midway, if memory serves...

Langley was the first American aircraft carrier, but I don't think she served in WWII.

I do remember a fic called Moonlight Sonata where all the major characters were named after aircraft carriers; Lexington, Essex, Hornet, etc...

The link is to a zip file, I'm afraid...

If you'll look at the first post in my Eva rant area you'll find I've laid out all the children and their various origins (among other things) and so if it isn't their then I'm 99.9999% sure it wasn't ever mentioned in the series.

The identity of Asuka's father is one of the best kept secrets in Evangelion, but I, being the awesome demigod that I am, managed to find it out.

Behold: Asuka's daddy!

...and if you believed that, I have an used Death Star to sell you...

Hehehe, my thought exactly. It'd explain SO many things.

Thankfully, Asuka doesn't hurl Kaiser Waves... :D :p :)

 That's so true. Just imagine him coming to Japan and confronting Gendo.

Another possibility for who Asuka's dad might be:

Yes, he IS of German origins, according to the KoF FAQ. And yes, that'd make Asuka Adelheid and Rose's sister

I don't anyone would've survived the series if she did, gah, Asuka's bad enough as it is, we don't need to be giving her super powers now as well, or super fighting abilities at least anyway.

The idea does have a certain appeal, though.

The same kind of appeal a horrific train wreck has.

You know it'll give you nightmares, but you just can't look away.

*imagines EVA-02 throwing Kaiser Waves at the Angels*

XD

You know, I think I recall Leona's merc group being call the Ikari warriors, or Ikari Group or something like that. I And Unit 01's berzerker state is kind of similar to the Riot of the Blood...

Hmmm. Yui was actually Leona, or Leona's daughter. Asuka is either Krauser's or Rugal's spawn...Misato is related to Athena or Shermie with that purple hair...Ritsuko is related to Mature...

Gendo's real scenario is just something to wipe out humans so that only the Orochi clan survives and he's using SELEE to those ends.

The only question left is did Rei inherit her biological mother's water Hakkeshu powers, or a mutated form? Say Kula's powers over ice?

Nice. Here's a few ideas for a KoF/NGE crossover:

1) Heidern's group is indeed called the Ikari Warriors, and Ralf and Clark are part of it (they are the original Ikari Warriors). However, Heidern's wife (whom Rugal killed) is never named specifically. What if she had been an Ikari?

Alternatively, since Leona is Heidern's adopted daughter, you could possibly have her be an Ikari if Heidern decided to remain in the Ikari family tree, if only by adoption. Thus, Yui could be her daughter, as you suggested, or even be Leona herself, who has abandoned her previous name to avoid tracking by Heidern's enemies.

2) Asuka could be related to Rugal or Krauser. Either would explain why she is a bit of a lunatic and a very sore loser. In fact, she's almost the exact copy of Rose Bernstein personality wise. The only difference is that while Asuka praises herself Rose praises her brother Adelheid. The rest is exactly identical.

3) Rei could be a clone created not from Angel DNA, but from NESTS's Orochi DNA. In fac, NERV could be an offshoot of NESTS. And considering how Orochi is supposed to be more than capable of annihilating all life on the plane in a matter of a couple hours... the loss of Angel DNA wouldn't be much.

4) Misato could be actually related to the Kusanagi clan. Kyo's girlfriend Yuki is apparently named 'Yuki Katsuragi'.

5) Ritsuko could be related to Yamazaki. Her hair, if you notice, is darker near the roots... and Yamazaki also has bi-color hair. Whether she inherited the crazy Heavenly King's peranent Riot of Blood state is your choice, but it would explain her borderline-psychotic hate of Rei, as well as her almost masochist desire to be with Gendo (Yamazaki gets off on pain, be it inflicted or received).

Hmm, so many possibilities. Just for fun, some crazier ones:

6) Asuka is actually related to Iori Yagami. If you go this way, you could have the Ikari famil be related to the Kagura clan, and have Rei be a clone created from Kyo Kusanagi's DNA - thus recreating the Shingi Troica in the EVA pilots - Asuka for Yagami, Shinji for Yata, Rei for Kusanagi.

7) Adam and Lilith are actually two of Orochi's heads, and the 'Angels' are supposed to break the seal on Orochi. Thsi places the entire conflict in a new light, and it may also cause a new set of scrolls to emerge, detailing the same battles as the Dead Sea Scrolls, but wih Orochi as the center figure.
