Naruto AU Naruto Fic Idea

This idea was inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics, though you can't really see the connection past 'Zodiac'.


Anywho, the general idea is that Akatsuki has captured all of the bijuu, save for Kyuubi, by now. Word gets to Jiraiya that the Akatsuki are getting prepared to attack Konoha in a year (1). Of course, upon hearing this, Tsunade starts to worry. While Konoha's ninja force is large, their collective skill cannot stand up to that of bijuu-empowered (2) kage-level nins.

So, Tsunade sends 12 ninja to search for something that was thought to be only legend. The Zodiac Stones. While they don't have/give as much power as even the Rokubi, they still augment a ninja's power enough that, with enough training and teamwork, they can defeat the Akatsuki.

(1) Maybe because it takes that time for...er...well, I'm sure you can think something up.

(2) This is optional. The Akatsuki don't have to absorb the bijuu.

*Naruto can't use a Zodiac Stone because of Kyuubi. But Tsunade could send him with the team so he could get some leadership experience and to keep Akatsuki from Konoha even longer. Also, the person's birthday doesn't have to correspond with the Zodiac sign.


So what do you think of this idea?

My only conditions for starting a fic with this idea up is that you credit me and you use as little OCs as possible. Also, I'd like it if whoever makes a story of this send me a link.

You're joking, right? Even the weakest of the Zodiac Beasts could trash Kyuubi with little effort - they are supposedly creatures that draw on the power of the Universe.

For instance the leader, Altima, can create and destroy worlds. The only reason why Ramza's party had a ghost of a chance was because she'd just woken up, and after Alma dumped her, her power grew unstable, making it impossible for its full extent to be used on them.

Hashmalum had a similar problem - he'd spent most of his power trying to wake Altima up, and was hanging dry by them. And of the others, one (Queklain) had been corrupted and had a very weak host, and the other three (Velius, Zalera and Adramelk) were not compatible with their hosts (Adramelk needed someone with little control over his rage, and Dycedarg was a cold, controlled bastard).

As for Elidibs, he's an artificial Lucavi. And he can still stomp anyone who's not Altima in direct combat with overkill damage, or just by turning them in poisoned frogs.

I think so but like I said, it's only connected to FFT if you squint really hard, not a necessary crossover.

The Zodiac Stones don't have to be of any particular alignment though one can incorporate their evilness in the story and have the characters try to stay the way they are.

The Zodiac Stones by themselves are powerless - it's the Lucavi sealed inside them that make them so dangerous. Without the Lucavi, they are just useless trinkets.

If ANY ninja got the Zodiac Stones, they'd become threats comparable, by themselves, to all of Akatsuki together. Tsunade doesn't need all the stones, even - she just needs either Virgo or Leo. The Regulator or the Holy Angel alone are more than adequate to stomp out any opponent.

Yeah they are evil, but that might actually make the story more interesting. ^_^

They go to find the Zodiac stones to help them fight the Akatsuki and end up with something even worse on their hands. :sisi:

You'll be fine. The only thing from Chrono Trigger is Lavos. Nothing else.
