This idea really breaks down to a crossover gate.
Seals can do amazing things.
What if... Minato came up with this insanely complex seal.
It transports the consciousness of Kushina, himself, and Naruto to an alternate universe or into a dream of a new universe.
So the parents actually get to raise Naruto. As he grows up he gets told of that right now he is in an alternate universe(even if he was really in a dream)
He lives a complete life in the Crossover... Only to die and wake up as a baby in the Naruto verse.
Now he can either remember the past immediately, or have him gain the memories of the other universe as he ages to that age.
So if he wasn't told until he was 13 about the other universe, he won't realize what was going on until then.
If he was living in a dream eventually he finds out. IE) the parents in the other universe was just imprints of his real parents. How love interest never really existed. How friend A never really died.
The specific crossover I was thinking of was... well... Inception.(Minus Naruto dieing in the inception world) Then going all inception on it with Naruto manipulating both the 'Inception' world and the 'Naruto' world extensively. He has no clue if he is dreaming, if the ninja world even exists, if he is casting some amazing genjutsu(as every ninja in Naruto's world claims), who is real, and most importantly...
If he was ever in the real world. And if he wasn't... Did it really matter?
