I wasn't too big a fan of Secret Student. The writing quality wasn't too great, and while the idea is somewhat interesting, there are other ways to be a captain.

i got halfway through the first chapter and stopped reading because of the mechanical mistakes >.>

if it was cleaned up a bit, might be decent.

I'm a little surprised that some of these haven't been recommended here yet.

When the Sun Comes Up, You Better Be Moving by hecatehatesthat

Instead of Byakuya and Renji, some noname shinigami are the ones sent to the human world to retrieve Rukia. Ichigo is able to defeat them, and he and Rukia go on the run. AU from around chapter 51 of the manga.

It's quite brilliant, and has the feel of a well-crafted faery tale. Albeit one about two people on the run with next to no money. The author hasn't updated it for a while, because she's been absorbed in other fandoms, but she swears she's continuing it.
I actually rec'ed that (I think...) in the general fic rec thread. It is a good read, though.

Agreed. :) Honestly, though, I thought it just cleared the 'decent' mark as it was, and I like the author's style. With some (okay, plenty) beta-ing work, it would be much better.

(Also, on a side note û does anyone know any good Bleach divergence fics? There are very few, and while I know there's a c2 community for them, nobody's updated that in a looooong while. The best ones I know are Lady Salazar's (and the one by hecatehatesthat), and I've just re-read both of those. So now I want MOAR!)

To be honest, because honesty is what I do best, Secret Student sucked.

To be honest zeebee, I'd rather have you review anything I write than almost anyone else.

Oddly enough I feel the same way. Even though he isn't always critical, provided zeebee actually takes the time to read it instead of clicky the X, it's nice to know there's someone there to backhand you when you do something completely stupid with the plot that others are too busy faning over to bring to your attention.

I'm glad you think that. It's difficult to determine if people see me as anything but a whiner.

I personally like to imagine you as a cynical robot ala Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy...

Just less depressed.

Man, I was so glad when I saw that you had posted on my fic.

Then I saw that you were smacking another poster, not me...

It was depressing.

Secret Student wasnt too bad but compared to After the Fairytale ends(AtFe)... I'd rather read AtFe.

Dont change Zeebee. Don't or we'll lose our only honest reviewer

Honestly I've always seen him as the Oscar the Grouch of TFF. He may criticise people all the time, but he brings up very good points. Least that's how I've always seen Oscar. Someone had to tell that Count to shut the hell up.

How about a deal? You get a new chapter out and I'll tell you how much it suck. I'll probably even tell you why.

Wow.... Eventually, we should make a compilation of zeebee1's comments. This last one was just awesome.

If nothing else, having it as suggested reading might make writers think things through more.

I would just like to personally thank you for linking this. I lost it a long time ago and couldn't remember the name.

Although, just once, for variety, I would like to see Yamamoto NOT be the next incarnation of Dumbledore-the-Oblivious or "Good god the man is fucking crazy and he's got a sword!".

Alright, so the man was hoodwinked well and proper during Aizen's little game... fair 'nuff; everyone did, though. He seems to prize "the justice of the world" above "an individual's justice", fine.

Look at his two favorite (still 'living') students though; they're some pretty laid-back guys and they respect him intensely, so there's got to be more to him than that...

Still, this story has made it clear that Yamamato is an agin politician who wants to to leave his legacy and doesn't care who he has to crush.

Either that or he is testing them to see if there are any among them who is strong enough to openly defy him. After all, who can he choose as a successor if none have the balls to lead?
