Is it dead? Ir is it continued somewhere else? I just finished reading chapter 23 and I'm wondering if its been abandoned...

It's been years since a new chapter has been released. I don't know what the authors are doing nowadays, but at this rate, I feel it's fair to assume that CoaEG has been abandoned.

hunting through SB I found a post by Nut from jan 2008 that said the authors were looking to wrap up the final chapter in 2008 but....its 2009 so...maybe they are just behind on it, hopefully.

John Biles has posted some spiffy Mai Hime continuation fiction on the FFML lately, someone asked him about CoaEG. This was his response.

Glad you're enjoying it, Jed!

And it's purely coincidental. I haven't even touched a hot pocket in
months.

As for COAEG, you must brainwash my co-author to get him writing again.
^^;;

He showed up at Stardestroyer.net in November 2007 (scroll down to the bottom of the page to see his posts) and gave some people who were complaining about how long it takes for him to update stuff a piece of his mind.

Frankly, I am quite satisfied knowing that he is still around and that his fics aren't dead, because while it may take quite a while Biles does deliver when he actually posts something.

That's all I needed to know. I was just afraid that the writers had disappeared into the abyss that has claimed so many good authors and never return.

Very well then.

What kinda car do you want? We need a good one so as to inspire visions of badassery.

I heard that there was only the one chapter remaining, so it's a terrible bit of luck that that's where they stopped.

But since the author hasn't forgotten it despite the time, and is still ready to finish when his collaborator wants to -- so it still has that going for it. It could finish.

Defiantly the truck. We can run him down and crush his legs with it thus preventing him from running away while we hypnotize him.

FFML archived copy of e-mail

That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die.

After years of laying fallow, the ice has broken and the forces of the Great Old Ones are once again on the march.

The first draft of the final episode of Children of an Elder God is now at 76 pages and counting, with 10 scenes done out of 37.

I have just written a scene I ache to share with people, but I can't, because it would spoil too much.

If all goes well, COAEG 24: The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, will release by or before (and hopefully WAY BEFORE) Halloween 2009, 11 years after it started.

It will be the final chapter of Children of an Elder God.

The Ceremony of Innocence has begun.
I think that says it all... it LIVES

I had all but lost hope in this.

Halloween, huh? Well, that means in the time it'll take me to reread the rest of the story to remember everything that's happened up to this point, the final part should be out. Awesome.

I swore I'd never read it until it was complete because I didn't want to get into it only to have it abandoned.

Nice to know there WILL be an ending.

...but I'm still not gonna start reading it until the ending is posted

Maybe it's just because I read through it only like a year ago... but the way the author occasionally referred to it on other boards... I never really thought it was dead.

I had thought that Rod M. had dropped out of the fanfiction world completely, myself. I remember emailing him about five or six years ago to ask if he was still around or not, and got an automatic response back saying that the email address didn't exist anymore. Haven't seen him on the FFML for years, either.
