Who?
The main character of Star Trek: Voyager.

It's last episode had a version of her from the future, come back into the past and solve the main conflict that was the story plot for it's 7-year run.

------

On the topic of Deep Space Nine and their worm-hole aliens. That specific plot point was used as a device to move the story along.

Sisco pays a price for that deal, honoring his obligations to the Bajorans; the aliens that actually worshiped them as gods.

From that point on, those aliens are a centerpiece to some pretty important story arcs and there instantly or eventually were consequences to their intervention.

Edit: Beaten to the punch by PCHeintz, but yea thats it essentially.

"So how do we end the story Bob?"

"Well, dunno about that Bubba, we have 'em bad Borgs that own a quarter of the galaxy, those nifty nodes that make them travel way faster than normal and all and a whole load of ships."

"Wait, It's easy! Just get Janaway from the future, she'll have nifty technologies that will take down the Borg!"

That's the way I see the dialogue between the writers for that episode. They should have gotten Kirk and ripped his shirt, we all know it was a better option.

Bah, you're complaining about Voyager? Try the ending for DS9! God from padded cell.

I happened to like both series... but I disliked the endings to both.

Damn. It's nice to know I'm not alone anymore.

Idle curiosity from fans then, how would you have liked to end it?

Both Voyager and DS(. Especially if you we're facing pressure from the networks to stop @ the same point they did...

The ending to Voyager was far worse for me than the one for DS9. Overall I liked DS9 better, it was a nice change from the usual hippie Star Trek series.
