I feel sorry for my friends when I DM... Your brother sounds like someone I might try to improve upon.

Yes, I'm a sadist.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a sadistic DM...especially if you do it so well, that they beg you for more. :evil2:

Ninja Edit: And referring to the earlier post, I know quite a bit about DnD, but I never really played it that much. Couldn't find people willing to, and then didn't have enough time.

In a current game I'm playing in, the DM decided to have a "Chance Roll" for use when creating characters. Namely this was that you roll a percentage and if you got high enough you may get a free bump or if low enough the DM may end up deciding for you. (This was added for Race and Gender after one of the other players made a crack about how he'd never play certain races. If you roll high enough, you get a free point of LA.

I've got a Female Silverbrow Human that the rest of the party is debating whether she's a Favored Soul or a Cleric, she is, however, a Sorcerer/Exalted Arcanist/Thaumaturgist at the moment with a large number of healing and summoning spells (Domain Disciple in Healing and Summoning domains). It's becoming quite interesting to have the other players wondering just what the hell your character is doing.

Like I said, I didn't get to play very long...as in, I think we only got up to level...three, maybe? Though I did find one thing amusing about our game.

See, I was a halfling mage, since I decided that, as a mage, I wanted to be hard to hit. My goal, albeit a never fulfilled one, was to create a mage that specialized in utility spells and other things that would let us gain indirect advantages in battle, while not really doing much offensively...but that's beside the point, since we never got that far.

This other guy was playing the typical half-orc barbarian. And, well, I ran out of spells I could use for awhile, and my movement sucked...so, I basically hitched a ride on him. We ran into a whole bunch of kobolds, and there was this this one kobold mage that kept casting some spell that would put him to sleep...and I just kept waking him up, since my turn was after the mage's, but before the barbarian's.

So, we actually more or less kept that strategy for awhile...every now and then I would pop out with a magic missile, and since I was a halfling and got bonuses both for my raise and my size when it came to hiding, I was basically successfully hiding in his rucksack almost all the time. Though eventually the DM decided he had to work out riding rules or somesuch for when I would pop out every now and then or somesuch...but yeah, it just amused me.

...of course, you people that play DnD all the time probably have much cooler stories than me. :(

I dunno, I like your story. The thought of a halfling in a sack on a half-orc's back, popping up every so often to cast a spell or bonk the half-orc on the head to wake him up is pretty amusing. ^_^
