Evangelion Eva AU idea

I had an idea for an AU a long time ago. I didn't have the skill to write it back then, and even though I have more experience with story telling, I lack the time. But here goes....

After the the 13th angel, instead of having the remains of unit 3 destroyed Gendo arranged for the wreckage to be secretly transported back to America along with "evidence" that that Seele knew of the flaws with the S^2 they gave the Americans to install in the now vanished unit 4, Gendo implies to those at the Nerv's First Branch in Massachusetts, that Seele has been purposely trying to cut the US out of Nerv operations.

In the months proceding America rebuilds/refurbishes Unit 03, and it becomes the archetype for a two other Evangelions that the Americans begin to secretly build. They incorporate the mutations caused by the Angel Bardiel. Including a new power source that is based on the 13th angel's core. Instead of a traditional S^2(super solenoid) engine, the American's secret 'Unit 7 & 8' are equipped with a 'Gelatinous Solenoid' engine. The GS engine itself while unable to produce as much power as the S^2 engine , however because of it's semi-liquid form it is able to take far more damage than it S^2 cousin. It can squished and even stabbed without a significant drop in power. Also the only other draw back to the GS engine is that it would have to be 'jump started' before it would begin to work, sort of how Bardiel only woke when they tried to turn Unit 03 on.

Jumping ahead to the time of EoE Just as Seele sees their victory at hand, an ambitious junior member of Seele, fearing the death that would come with the Red Earth Ceremony, conduct a coupe against his masters and assassinate the members of the council. The Mass Production Eva are recalled back to Europe, but not before the remaining seven break Unit 02 apart.

Fast forward a few months more the whole of Tokyo-3 is in a dangerous position. Gendo Ikari is dead, and was killed before he could attempt to join Adam into Rei, Their is a US military presence in the city and the now acting Commander of Nerv, Fuyutsuki is given an offer to move what was left of Nerv to the American Branch, offering accommodations to staff and employees that were willing to come. Most important of all the Americans are interested in Unit 01, the three pilots, as well as many pilot candidates that they could get through the deal.

America is currently in fear of what is happening in Europe as a new Seele is now asserting control over the continent and building an empire. America also has intelligence that the Factories that built the MP Evas are in full production. Currently America only have three units at their disposal(units 7&8 along with their archetype Unit 3) they have more under construction, but when Unit 4 vanished they lost a majority of their most promising pilot candidates.

This new Seele has access in the MP Eva line- each one takes at least 6 months to build, as well access to the Karou Dummy Plugs.

The American "3" series takes at least 9 to construct and their pilots are human. They have only two pilots for units 07 & 08 ( a girl and a boy respectfully) And in order to get pilots for their upcoming units(which are in the beginning stages) they will need all the pilots they could get. As they know it is only a matter of time before they find themselves under the assault of massive invasion of Harpies (MP EVA)

Rei out of necessity would eventually become the pilot of Unit 03(imagine her in a black and blue plugsuit) Shinji would continue to pilot unit 01 and Asuka would be remain off of the active duty roster, due to her injuries and the fact the Unit was unrecoverable.

While personally I like this idea (though I don't think I could pull it off), OC-based stories don't usually attract a lot of attention in the Eva fandom these days. Still, it sounds interesting and it would be something I would like to read.

Sounds like my pathetic OC idea that I BRIEFLY had about a year ago. Thankfully, I scraped it and it wont see the light of day again.

The story would center largely around Shinji as he tries to become accustom to his new surroundings, but because his english is terrible he finds himself relying more on his fellow pilots(Rei and Asuka), although that proves to be a little difficult....

as Asuka is having trouble trying to come to terms with what had happened to her. She found her mother within her Eva only to lose her again a sort time later, to a degree it would soften her a bit, replacing some of her anger with a sadness that leaves her tittering on the edge of depression, especially considering the condition her body is in. Her high sync ratio during her battle against the MP EVA has left body in a horrible condition. She is unable to see out of her left eye. Her right arm, although it was saved, is largely useless. She can move her fingers on that hand a little, and she can't bend her arm much without experiencing pain. The rest of her body is scared, and not with the kind of scars that leave a thin white line. No, these are the sort of scars that more lie ugly shallow pits. Like if some had used a hammer on drywall. She also has trouble walking, without some assistance. (ei. a crutch) Consider the pride she once held in both her athleticism and her physical beauty, it is a devastating blow. Although she would never admit it out loud, she secretly wishes that she had died in that battle.

Rei (or Rei III) would have a far different path. She would discover a sort of savageness within her after she Syncs with the rebuilt Unit 03. During her first activation (which happens during a battle against the Harpies) she has a brief vision of a classroom. She is sitting at a desk in the middle of the room. Near the front of the classr their is the wispy outline of an older woman writing at the chalk board. But there is another presence in the room, behind her sitting a few seats back she sees the dark outline of a boy. One that has the general shape of the former 4th child Touji Suzuhara(who died in this AU) Later during the battle as she tries to push herself harder in order to defeat the MP EVAs, something happens... she sees the classroom once more, the wispy image of the 'teacher' is sitting at her desk, Rei feels that it is looking directly at her, however Rei is startled when the black shadow she had envisioned earlier has move from it's desk and is now standing right beside her, it places it's hand on her arm... And suddenly Rei's Sync ration shoots up and she finds that she is suddenly able to access the full potential of Unit 03, The arms that can stretch at her command, the EVA's body can twist and flex in manner that Units 00, 01 and 02 could never achieve. Eventually she even unlocks a 'leeching' ability while combat, which causes Unit 03 to 'ooze' over it's opponent. This ooze corrodes the mechanical parts and eats though the flesh of the MP EVAs.

but those are just some of the ideas that I had for the fic.

So the OCs are more like Biggs and Wedge in the original Star Wars movies - important enough to rate names, but only because they're closely associated with the main character.

Also, from what you're describing this might actually work better with the manga continuity where Touji DID die. I think they actually have a panel where bits of his body are visible sticking out of the broken plug.

yeah well this story will never see the light of day, It was sort of this epic 'The adventures of Buckaroo Banzai and the 5th dimension of Eva fics. In other words I had enough plot points to make five or six stories. But I think what I'll do is just carve away bits and pieces to use on my other fics. Originally the Pregnant Ritsuko That I'm been using in Changing Seasons would have been included in this idea. I may take the ideas I had for Asuka and turn it into an Angsty Continuation Fic.
