I can't imagine how that could be done, really, unless it's told from the viewpoint of a Villain Protagonist....
I guess you could do it with at least reasonably sympathetic protagonist easily enough if you wrote a post-MoS story (from e.g. Rider's viewpoint, since I think she would be entirely justified in doing whatever the hell she wants to Rin and Shirou following their total betrayal of Sakura, and ditto Ilya), but other than that (well, the converse (making a story from the viewpoint of someone who is trying to stop Sakura in HF at all costs) could also hold in theory, I suppose, if you don't mind pissing me off no end...), there aren't really any situations where Shirou isn't unambiguously a good guy.

Speaking of Bad Guy Shirou......I've always heard the fandom describe Avenger from F/HA as basically a twisted version of Shirou. (apparently, because he didn't have much of a personality left to begin with...his personality was a twisted copy of Shirou's after the possession)
Since i obviously haven't played F/HA, can anybody enlighten me more as to what Avenger's personality was really like? Details would be nice as well.

Just give me something good. I just read 'The World Without'. And by virtue of principle, I read until the latest chapter. So, after reading Shinji rape Sakura, get karma-Houdini'd by Sakura Command Spelling Saber to prevent her from attacking him, and finally going to rape Rider, let's just say, I am in a bit of a murderous mood.

If it's any consolation, things have gone as well for Shinji in TWW as they're ever going to get--it's all downhill from there.
I can't actually think of any fics or doujins off the top of my head where Shinji is killed. The vast majority of them take place after the game/anime, so he's already dead.

Saber/Archer fics are . . . rather low in number. I haven't seen any, at least any good ones. Well . . . wait a sec . . .

Erm, you know that there are two routes where Shirou doesn't need "serious OOC treatment to screw up his relationship with Saber", right? Shirou x Saber is by no means certain to happen, there are (at least) two other girls who he can be just as happy (and, IMO, more happy) with.
But, no, I can't think of any off the top of my head (the one Elf posted is pretty good, but it's not really serious). The major problem, I think, is finding an excuse for both Archer and Saber to be around. If one exsited at all, I would imagine it would pretty much satisfy your requirements by default, unless the author was an idiot (well, I suppose it would be possible to kill Shirou off in such a fic without being an idiot, if you were that way inclined, but it's hard to conceive of many scenarios where an author would want to do that). You just have to set the fic post-HF or post-UBW (post-UBW would probably be the most logical, since in that route Saber is still around (in one ending) and Rin (who is the most likely pairing for Archer) is paired with Shirou instead), or else make the story progress such that Shirou falls for someone other than Saber.
