Faith's Requiem

Ya know, there was a man in the place I grew up that was kinda like him. Decided it was a good idea to take on the biggest predator around. All he got for his troubles was the nicest tombstone ever to read, "Here lies an idiot."

I've ordered one just like it for Quentin fucking Travers, and I'm working on getting him to need it. Have to get past the flunkies though.

It's certainly impressive here. The defenses alone should be able to hold off a dozen vampires with relative ease.

I'm a Slayer. A dozen vampires have nothing on me. Just dust, assuming I've got a stake with me. Which I do. Crossbow too. And a nice more-than-decorative sword I just grabbed from a wall. It's easy. Just like getting past the minions on the way to the Master Vamp, just less dust and more blood.

Travers. Pff. What did he think? Did he think I wouldn't know? Assume they wouldn't tell me?

Guessing by the look in this guy's eyes as I raise my sword I'm guessing the Watchers did think they wouldn't tell me. Thing is, they did.

You see, Buffy has this friend, acts like an older sister around her. Wicked Wicca Witch of the West. Don't think I've ever appreciated Red enough. She told me.

Needed another witch to help me get here to do this though. Red's too goody goody for it. Not powerful enough either. Fortunately, Angel was willing to get me in touch with one of his old Angelus buddies once I told him what just happened to B. Guilt's wonderful that way.

I'm fucked up, sure, but if somebody's plotting to kill the woman you say you love, I'd say you tell. Her.

So once he got me a witch, I staked him. Might as well start with the biggest bastard of them all.

Traitors don't deserve to live.

Especially not this set.

Because they hurt B.

Nobody, NOBODY hurts my B.

My sword's stuck in a wall now.

I could pull it out. Slayer strength and all that. But the corpse hanging on it should deter anyone who's following and I think I chipped it going through his spine anyway.

So I pick up another weapon from the wall. This time it's an axe. I love this place. Weapons everywhere. Axes are fun, you know? With the added Slayer strength they make it so it's really simple to kill something without any risk. Trick is to cut off the head. Preferably before the body realizes it's in a fight.

New, smiling, Watcher tries magic on me, but I got witchy help for a reason. Not smiling now.

The next one's looking at me like he's seeing a psychotic axe-murderer from hell coming at him.

Guess he is.

Sunnydale's certainly close enough.

I don't know if Giles is in communication with these guys, but well, I figure he'll learn eventually. Which means I can't go back to Sunny D.

Can't go back to B.

And it's their fault. Fuckers.

Somehow, that thought makes killing the next one infinitely easier.

What're they gonna do? I'm a Slayer. They're an Old Boys Club.

Did they think hurting a Slayer would put them on the side of the angels or something? Yeah, right.

I mean, just look at B. Side of the angels, right there.

Why should I be merciful? Because they're human and the Slayer doesn't kill humans? Been around for hundreds of years, knows about the Slayer, tries to off her, probably killed a bunch of them in the past? Sounds like a demon to me. Except there are two Slayers now. Didn't count on that did ya fucktwits? You hurt my B. Last one who tried that ended up as dust in a graveyard.

Ah. Another old guy.

This one's Quentin Travers.

Finally.

The biggest traitor of them all. I like the panicked look in his eyes.

"What I'm doing? Isn't it obvious? You're getting old. I'm testing if you haven't outlived your usefulness. Consider this... Well, a Cruciamentum?"
