When they announced Starcraft 2 I thought I had experienced the pinnacle of unbeliving awe. I was wrong.

... well, gee, I dunno, it's only a Black Isle RPG. It's only something a fair few people here spent weeks of their life on finishing multiple times to check out the different way you can play. It's only got better and more gritty a plot than 90% of the preprocessed crap out there. Also possibly the only RPG that features a shotgun wedding if you do things in a certain way, which is fucking hilarious.

Griever said it.

RPG by Black Isle = Autowin.

Post-Nuclear Blackest-of-Black Humor RPG? Double Win.

Fallout I is annoying because of the lack of comfort features ,Fallout II has these.

Go forth and play it, I shall spend the day SQUEE-ing. Fallout III. Mmhm. Let's just hope they put plot and freedom of play above GFX.

While Fallout 3 is a long awaited dream... I'm wary.

It's being hyped well over a year in advance and it's not being made by Black Isle.

Bethesda can make good games, don't get me wrong. Oblivion roxxors. Nor am I too worried about having freedom of choice. But, can they get the dark and gritty feel of Fallout down? Can they give us truly evil methods to gain power, instead of just slaughtering everybody?

You mean like dropping bombs on Myron's head? (Oh god, Myron. Zamza would have loved him ....)

Ahh, FOII, with the script fixing patch (that corrects -so goddamn many- errors in this game that I'm flabbergasted. There are several hundred looping/missing scripts that, at times, prevent you from either finishing the game or cashing in some major rewards ...)

But, beware the hype!

While it can't get worse than Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel (omg the suxxorz), I seriously doubt it can match up to Fallout II.

I just pray to whatever will listen that it won't suffer the way Oblivion did on the PC - in other words, from console-itis. The UI, levelling system... too big, too simple. Textures? Bland, had massive tiling issues. Mods are needed to make Oblivion a worthy successor to Morrowind on the PC.

I fear for Fallout 3... but I am also quietly hopeful. Bethesda made some damned fine games over the years... let's see if they can do it again.

I can honestly say that I have mixed feelings about Fallout 3. Same with the Fallout MMO, but yeah .. the thing is, they have such a vast and well thought-out background story it's really hard to continue like this. Like with all continuations, the fear of having the follow-up go bad for the sake of making more profit with action instead of working with the "feel" of the original fallout is there. At least until the game gets released. Well, or games, in this case.

Also, Fallout as an MMO .. I don't think that'll work out. I'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong, seeing as there aren't any good post-apo MMO's out there that I can think of, but right now I just can't imagine something like this without killing the flair of the RPG.

Pity they won't be following my long-time dream and making it the kind of RPG that System Shock 2 was. Eh ... but then, if I wanted to have post-apocalyptic fun in FPP, I'd go and get STALKER (which I'm going to do anyway, eventually).

Pity they said it won't be as 'crude' as Fallout 2, or at least mentioned that. Damnit, visiting brothels and seducing the wife of a crime-boss in order to get into his private rooms and clean out his safe is an integral part of the game experience!

I'm also kind-of hoping they change the combat and skill system somewhat - don't get me wrong, I liked it in Fallout 1 and 2, but I find it annoying that once you get to a certain spot you pretty much have to invest in heavy weapons or energy weapons skills of some sort. That annoyed me to no end, since I went through most of F2 with a sneaking specialist who focused on small arms (well, if you consider a Pancor Jackhammer small arms) and hand to hand crit-seeking (gotta love poking the eyes off a supermutant and following up with a kick to the balls). The Powered Armor design was cool and all, but I didn't like _using_ the thing too much. Eh. Let's just say I got my share of playing sniper in F1 (finishing the final boss without even going into the room, with crits from a sniper rifle, was just plain cheap. But _oh_ so _satisfying_, no?).

So, what do you think about perspective? Will it be isometric, with pan and zoom, sort of like NWN? Fixed? Or an FPP/TPP mix of some sort? A fully (or almost) explorable environment would be nice - rooftops and all that in addition to ground and the inside of buildings.

Sigh. New Reno is the best-coded part out of the entire game. Seriously, there are so many ways to do stuff there, esp. the mobster assassinations.

Still, the fact that we get to keep the SPECIAL system is good. Very, very good.

And, Griever, I finished the game without much problems using Melee Weapons.... the second you get your hands on the Super Sledge, you're set for the rest of the game.

Giant Hammer to the head, check. Giant hammer to the balls? Check. KOd opponent? Check.
Cassidy pumping said enemy full of Gauss Rifle shells? Check.

As long as they don't translate armor values to full ac values, i'll probably be happy.

I like getting to the point in the game where I have Power Armor and can laugh at the majority of the weaklings trying to kill me, while blowing them to pieces with my trusty Bozar. :evil2:

Problem is the criticals and the big guns.

I don't how many times I got hit with a critical that ignored armor and killed me outright.
