Nasuverse Fate/Stay Updates

Exodus is just fine, in my opinion. Still, it's telling that I found myself slightly agreeing with Lung last issue...

Honestly, why do we have two separate threads for both recommendations and updates? I feel you could easily combine the two.

So Imma do just that and recommend Prism Mayhem. When an experiment involving Kaleidoscope magic goes wrong, Illya of Prisma Illya gets sent to the Fuyuki of Fate/Stay Night, landing in front of her counterpart and Berserker. Currently six chapters long.

While I do not care too much either way these days... I should not an update is *not* the same as a recommendation. I could in theory recommend a story dead for 4 years and it would be valid, but it is in no way a notice of it being updated.

An example 'Shirou Never Misses' by Mereo Flere, a one shot from 2011. Pretty decent and short one shot... I liked it, not bad, might appeal. But since it is a one shot, that means last updated 2011, so in no way is an update.

The main issue is that people keep getting things switched around for Recommendations and Updates. People keep posting updates in Recommendations, and recommendations here.

This. We *could* try "enforcing" things, but I have a feeling that it would spoil the spirit of discussion than anything else. We're here to have fun. Unless it gets really annoying, I'd rather let things be.

I all but guarantee enforcement will not work... you could never catch them all in any case.

And complaints on linking I've personal experience with on this community, not so much this rendition of the forum but the past one... trust me, it is down to forum whim if a mis-linked or a link without proper discloser or a link in the wrong section gets negative commentary. I've even seen a *lack* or providing a link an excuse to gang up on a member. And even the complainers would not like what would need to be done to really properly fix it.

I've learned to live with things as they are here. But those incidents and memories are still viewed by myself with some bitterness.

Meh... what ever.

EDIT:

Hmmm... thinking on it, combining of the Type Moon recommendation and update threads into another one-off side project for my Lister program like I did last year with several different Fukufics, TFF, and SpaceBattles threads would not be overly hard... tempting just to see the results.

Thought even if I did do it, not sure would be worth it. Except a very few specific individuals, I had very little feedback on the ones I did last year. Which is why I've never bothered updating those side projects and they remain one-offs, despite the fact I still have all the compiled material.

I'd have to give it some thought.

Since it's PC, I'm not jumping on this bandwagon. There were times when he gave updates from his scripts on fanfic updates, but not everyone agreed with the formatting or other such nitty-gritty. He's got good reason not to start it up again and it's something I miss.

I actually do still have my specific update thread here, (I posted the last one just under two days ago), and I do still respond to some search requests here... nowhere near as much s I used to though.

To get more back on topic... I actually liked that last chapter From Fake Dreams... I do wish more had been done regarding Luvia and Rin in regards to what I view as the betrayal... while I cannot see Shirou doing much, I can certainly see Saber taking a harsher stance on it. Obviously author is not going that direction though. Oh well...

Contractual Obligations 6

I was really excited about the premise - A Connecticut EMIYA in King's Arthur's Court - but the way that got set up was kind of stupid, and most of the story has been about the Rape of Arthur anyway.

It's kind of lame.

Ugh, this entire thing...I really empathize.

Fuck, I wish that one-shot where post-Fate Shirou, not EMIYA, end up being send into the past and promptly swear himself into Arturia's service right after she pull Caliburn out of the stone could get a continuation instead of that bullshit.

From Fake Dreams updated to chapter 40... though as I look at it in FF.NET itself, it still states 39 chapters.

Give it a few though, the site should catch up to the database.

Well...Caster's gonna end up getting really screwed in the end since she continues to piss off everyone in the War.

And all the peoples get pissed at Shirou, but at this point that's the norm.

Speaking of people being pissed off...

I still keep hoping there will eventually be a scene where someone (probably not Shirou) vents on Louvia and Rin for the secrets they've been deliberately keeping from him... considering all the trouble he has been going to just to attempt to insure they live.

I keep imagining Saber in the role and taking a particularly dim view of her going into battle w/o the information her masters supposed allies could have provided.

It is the one flaw in the characterization of this story that has been bugging me since their betrayal occurred, and their continuance to do so by not telling him about Archer. While Shirou not caring and turning a blind eye to it I can easily see being the case and in character, in doing what they've done, they not only betrayed him, but by extension Saber, Rider, and Sakura... and I really cannot see them just rolling with that even if Shirou would.

Yeah...since no one wants to tell Shirou that his future self is out to kill him...it's definitely a problem.

Honestly, I can see why they haven't told him yet, but if they don't tell him soon and he ends up learning about that in the worst possible way it's not gonna end well.

considering the source material? yes it's going to be revealed in one of the worst possible moments, or EMIYA is going to die in a semi-heroic way that will reveal that to shirou or will become a non issue (like what happened in Fate route)

Path of the King updated to chapter 31.
Eh. Other than the Angra Mainyu thing and Sacchin the chapter was somewhat underwhelming.

Maybe it's the long wait between chapters or something. I don't know.

Didn't Neoalfa himself say he thinks the entire arc is underwhelming?

Yeah. I'm agreeing with him on that aspect.

The best thing about this arc is the trolling antics of Caren and Sacchin. Other than that...meh.

Personally,

As far as the Satsuki part of the arc goes, or the first portion, I've been pretty much fine with the whole Satsuki subplot... I actually liked how it turned out. But, that is dependent on the assumption she goes back with him at least and is not dropped from the story. The reasoning being is if she is dropped somehow after this arc, then the entire arc to me would make little sense except as a distraction from the main plot with Caster and the detective and everything looming ahead. It would also have wasted all the development given to her character and growth into her powers...

As far as the Caren part of the arc goes, I know little outside the respective anime continuities (FSN/Tsukihime) though, and am not really all that into this Caren and cursed museum sword subplot.

I cannot imagine Caster being happy about Caren and Ciel playing him like they did either...
