I'm tired of main characters who are fucking traps in Castlevania. I DON'T identify myself in an ambiguously homosexual guy with dubious taste in clothing, I want the rugged badass who can TEAR YOUR SOUL OUT WITH A LOOK. Like, a whip-wielding version of Big Boss. Not a pretty pussy who probably spends most of his time before a mirror like the latest CV mains have been.
He's not the main character in the games he's in, but Julius Belmont is pretty badass. When you fight him in Aria of Sorrow, it's one of the more difficult fights in the game - all his attacks do a lot of damage, and one of them (the giant cross) has an effect that sucks you in, and contact with the attack does huge damage in rapid succession. (Get hit by it, and you're boned.)
He is notable for being the most powerful of all the Belmont line, period, and actually succeeded in completely destroying Dracula's body in the year 1999.

He does this dressed as an adventurer, and wearing a rugged goatee and mustache, not with a well-tailored gothic dress outfit and perfect girly-man hair.

Anyway, there are strong hints that a Castlevania game set in 1999 - i.e. Dracula's final resurrection, in which Julius pwn3d Drac - is on the horizon, and that it will star Julius.

This thread necro'd by yours truly. We now return you to your regular off-topic discussions. :snigger:

edit: nevermind, WickerMan beat me to the thread necro.

Um, I posted on the 21st of March. How is it necro?

Anyway, yes, Julius is not a pretty pretty princess with a whip or whatever. But Julius is the exception to the rule, pretty much. Ever since Simon, CV mains have ben overly feminine in a not-badass-at-all way.

Simon?! Maybe in the artwork redesigns, but I'll always remember Simon Belmont in his classic brown-haired, vaguely Conan the Barbarian-like appearance.

Juste Belmont, from Harmony of Dissonance, on the other hand, was a complete girly-man.

Well, classic Simon was definitely manly. The redesigns IGA made recently, though, need to be sterilized with napalm.

You don't make Simon Belmont pretty. You just don't. It's a cardinal sin.

Juste and Soma Cruz, on the other hand, are yaoibait. And Richter is also dangerously there.

And let's not talk about Alucard. I like how he plays, but not how he looks. At least he makes it clear he's not interested in either sex...

Well, it's pretty much expected that Soma - being the reincarnation of friggin' Dracula, and thus part of the whole part-vampire schtick - be a prettyboy. Alucard set the precedent, and it goes hand-in-hand with the whole vampire/goth thing.

At least Soma isn't lame as a protagonist, looks notwithstanding.

But the Belmonts should not be effeminate!

Damn you, IGA!
