Okay, it's a pain in the ass but it isn't very hard (except on your formatting :snigger: )

When you're in your control panel, go to the 'Documents' label on the side. At the bottom of the page that pops up is the control to upload files. Label the file you upload.

Next go to the 'Stories' label on the side. Click on 'New Stories' on the top. It'll make you accept their guidelines and force you to do it again. After you do that and are back in 'New Stories', you can put up the file you uploaded before. You can edit your story, and try to format it from here (otherwise ff.net will probably butcher it.)

Okay, now I'm just pissed. I've uploaded a story, gone through editing, through document manager, now how the hell do I get to show up on my blasted account?

After you do all of the above, plus give your story a title, category, rating, add the submitted document to said story, etc., and push submit, it should show up on your account. Now, if FFN is slow, it might not show up for a while. But in general, if you click stats, and your story is there, than it means it is up.

Okaaaay, but I've already uploaded a document, but all I get now is a screen that says: [Doc Label] [Words] [Edit/Preview] [Remove]. I've gone through and anded all the <i>etc and shit, now how do I do the catagory, title, rating, etc? I can't get past this page.

Thanks for the help, guys; sorry to be a bother...

That's 'cause you're in the wrong section.

Instead of the documents area, click on the "Stories" label. Click "New Story" from that section (where you'll likely be required to go to the "Guideline" area and agree to FF.net's rules and such), and then you can upload your story.

Yeah, but now when I go [Stories][New Story][Catagory Selection Button] nothing happens. Is this normal or is FF.Net fucked up again?

I should be putting up a story there in the next few days. I'll check when I do.

It's working fine for me. Clicking on the category button pops up a separate window though; make sure that your computer/browser isn't blocking it for some reason. Also, make sure you don't browse elsewhere (as is, from the screen with the category button), as after you select the categories it will only do anything if it's on THAT screen.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Been a while since I put up a new story. Yeah, if you have pop-up blocker, probably should disable it just for that.

Is anyone else having troubles with Fanfiction.net? Whenever I try to upload a document, it's all "error has occurred while processing your request". Honestly, it's driving me annoyed.

There are others, MisatoKitty being one, based on his comments on Anifics.

However not everyone is, as I am stll getting updates by the feeds, including from as little as 10 minutes ago. So people must be able to upload.

Per their homepage announcement yesterday, they had a multiple drive failure, though that announcement does say it is/was fixed.

Checked up on my old(and only) project on a whim, and lo and behold, people are still reviewing the damn thing. Made me want to rewrite it, make it better, and continue it. Either that, or write something else altogether...

However...

ARGH!!! I can't remember my email address and password to my old FF.net account!

Wracking my brains, but it ain't coming out. Can someone with an FF account help me check what my old email(from something like 2-3 years ago) was?

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/529248/

If I still can't remember how to access it, I'm just going to create a new account, or just go back to just reading.

Uh...this might be a stupid question, but how do i go about closing a ff.net account?

#20
Why bother?

Seriously. Just don't log in anymore; it'll have the same effect and you won't lose the possibility of someday having a story you want to post and not having an account ready to post it to. Not that it's hard to get an FFnet account if you need one.

More to the point, I'm not sure there even is a way to close it yourself, short of writing to the admin and asking for it to occur, which is likely to take a very long time if it happens at all. You could break a bunch of rules and get yourself banned, but even that isn't a guarantee that you'll lose your account quickly.

Just don't log in anymore; that works for everyone.

There is a way I believe. I think I closed one of my old accounts, but it was years ago and I can't remember.

I looked, but I can't find where you delete your account. My old account was deleted though.

Sorry to revive an old topic, but I thought it would be better than starting a new one. So here's my question: I've read that it is possible to define the search function on FF.net to look for specific things (characters, places, etc) using something like a 'character pairing filter'. Where do I find this filter? I tried using the ordinary search function, but that don't work. Many thanks.

Its usually only in the big fandoms, but it'll be right where you do the ratings, length, and update filters. It'll be the dropdown that says "Character: any"
