Harry Potter First year traps theory

A lot has been made of the first years getting through traps for the stone. But I had a thought a while back that perhaps the traps were just extremely specialized. Anybody who wasn't voldemort could get through. The troll and the Cerberus were from care of magical creatures. Care seems to imply love. I suspect to be good in both of those of classes you have to have to be able to love what your caring for, or a love of the subject. And voldemort is supposedly incapable of this. I suspect that herbology is much the same. As for charms I wonder if that was more a test of broom flying. Voldemort probably wouldn't have played quidditch of even flew much in school. He be too busy making alliances and plotting. As for the potion one it is just what the book says, a test of logic. Most evryone has mocked Voldemort's plans. As to why he just wouldn't send someone else I think he just has too big an ego. No matter what theatre it was he have voldemort in the back of his head commanding him and he better obey him word for word.

But honesty I suspect dumbledore is just a manipulative idiot. But this seems plausible so I decided to released it into net to be commented on.

I thought it was that the traps were to focus the desire of the people going though them?

I.E. For Voldemort his greatest desire was using the stone, focusing on the journey would involve the thought process, "I am getting closer to using the stone."

For Harry and friends on the other hand it was, "I need to get through these tasks to prevent Snape from getting the stone"

Now without the traps it is possible Harry would see his family instead... We even don't know for sure the stone was in the corridor until after the mirror got moved.

Having just an empty corridor to the mirror may have Voldemort wanting the stone more than using... Perhaps. Or perhaps not.

P.S. After being gone for 2 weeks in Italy, am back. :D

Seems to me that the traps are just hard enough to get through as to not make you suspicious and then the mirror will make sure that who ever wants the stone for "evil purposes" gets stuck there.

If three First Years can get through them, I would think it would make an adult suspicious.

So did I.

The troll was put in by the guy who was possessed by Voldemort, so, you theory has a hole in it.

Also, Voldemort solved the problem by just killin' the troll. Two holes.

Upon reading the word "trap I had two thoughts. The first is how fics, even when HP's backstory is entirely different, fall into the stations of canon and get railroaded.

The second was crossdressers. Those types of traps.

I always figured the purpose of the traps was to delay Voldemort until Dumbledore could catch up. After all, even if Voldemort could get the stone out of the mirror, he can't create the Elixir until he leaves, which means going through the traps, again, backwards - with Dumbledore waiting outside. Dumbledore, with the Elder Wand and possibly backup from the other staff members, versus a Quirrellmort who'd just had to go through the gauntlet twice. Hell, if they were waiting for him they could even have cast Muffliato on Fluffy - they knew Quirrell had trouble getting past him the first time.

Does that mean you think Hermione had to play the chess game again, to get to Ron? Likewise, the keys aren't an obstacle the other way.

I was wondering, why couldn't Quirrel get the stone out of the mirror?
According to DD only someone who wanted the stone but did not want to use it could get it out, but Quirrel didn't want to use the stone, he wanted to give it to LV.
