Fixing Old Code

#1
After looking through some old threads I've realized that alot of the smilies are broken, upon reading older threads I noticed that some of the Links have turned into an HTML slurry of nonsense. Upon reading even older threads they become unreadable due to the fact that all quotation marks have been replaced by question marks.

We should probably fix this.

Yes, we've been working on it.

Two things: One, myBB allows full HTML, which is just begging for people to insert full on attack sites into their post. We disabled that, which has the side-effect of killing HTML <a> links. I'm looking into creating a white list that would allow those and prevent full HTML from running.

Second, I just haven't gotten around to adding the old TFF smilies. We've got them all stored somewhere and I just haven't added them to the list. I'll probably kill the myBB ones too.

so... about those question marks, anything can be done from our side of the equation or it's purely on the Admin/Dev side of it?

I don't think there's a globe user-end fix, but we can fix our own stories.

Find a post on nTFF that has broken characters. Find the equivalent post on oTFF. Hit edit. Copy the BBCode. Edit the post on nTFF. Paste the copied BBCode. Hit save.

It takes a couple of second and fixes every single issue we currently have. The only expectation is that some smiles won't transfer over.

Actually, if you just hit edit post on the effected post, then click save post, it will fix it.

That method is really not very good. The wrong character gets inserted a lot of the time and doesn't fix the HTML links.

For example, this is what your method did to a post of mine.

I"m looking for the name of the type, assuming it"s a real type of sword.
And this what what my method did and what it should look like.

I’m looking for the name of the type, assuming it’s a real type of sword.
