Hello for the third time old friends, and welcome new friends to The Fanfiction Forum. If you're here then you're interested in fandom, transformative works and fanfiction in particular. If you're here by accident, then you're in for an education.
Just so we're all on the same page: this is the third version of TFF, and we are now running the Xenforo forum software. Those of you familiar with Spacebattles, Sufficient Velocity and related sites will recognize the UI, and we're pleased to announce that functions we've wanted to implement for a long time come with the package. This includes:
First and most important we're down our usual array of smilies. Getting them back is our top priority.
But seriously: the forum currently isn't sending confirmation emails. If you are trying to register or change account information, the workaround is fairly straightforward: go to the official TFF Discord and scream at me @Watashiwa or @The Ero-Sennin to force the verification.
Yes really. Email works too (watashiwaonline@gmail.com || thesageoftoads@gmail.com), but Discord is faster. We're hoping to have this sorted out in the next day or two.
We're going to be collapsing some subforums and creating new ones. This is a project that we started on nTFF but never got serious about. Let's face it: fandom moves on, and today's big thing isn't necessarily tomorrow's. We are open to suggestions for new subforums, with the caveat that it has to be used! It's well and good to have a place for My Hero Academia, but what's the point if it never sees traffic? No content is getting deleted, but you might have to look for Akamatsu, Ranma and Sailor Moon under anime. Tags will help.
We're looking for at least one more moderator for our modmin team. @daniel_gudman and @chronodekar have agreed to resume their previous roles (thanks guys!), and while we're taking suggestions and applications, Ero and myself will be making the decision. We're looking for active posters who can step back from the heat of the moment and say when someone's actually out of line.
And as before we're putting new templates together. Never fear, the dark theme is coming. Soon. Promise!
Title ladder's kinda weak. I'm open to suggestions.
We'll be limiting signature image size to something reasonable. Please be considerate of your fellow users.
TFFv3 is on a paid server. We're NOT soliciting donations, but because folks offered in the past, we're considering ways of accepting donations to defray costs. If that's something you're interested in, 1.) thanks and 2.) we'll let you know when we know how we'll handle that.
Speaking of servers, we're a bit behind on forum software, so there might be a disruption in the future as we catch up, but we'll let you know. EDIT: Well that was easy. Xenforo 2 now.
Last and possibly most importantly, we're considering some new rules. Nothing concrete yet, and maybe it won't happen at all, but I'll tell you straight up what the guiding principle will be: Don't be an asshole.
...
Honestly that's pretty much what I want the new rules to look like. I still hate disciplinary action; don't be a dick and I don't have to. Pretty easy, yeah?
Aight that's about it. Returnees, the mustaches are in the usual place. Newbies, check your sanity by the door. You won't be needing that here.

- Mentions
- The alert system
- A reputation system I don't hate
- Following users
- a tag system thank christ
- Avatars are back!
- and, just between you and me, the backend looks pretty nice.
