How can you possibly replace the great Billy West? Or Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio or any of the rest?

This is equivalent of saying they're going to recast the Simpsons!! Let's pray to Jeebus they don't go there next.

FOX just ruined Futurama.
EDIT: Added a quote box.

Fox released a statement saying "We love the Futurama voice performers and absolutely wanted to use them, but unfortunately, we could not meet their salary demands.
What. What did they ask for? 5 trillion dollars and a solid 24k gold cube the size of the average persons fist?

Well, for a TV series that is shown on cable (not broadcast), that is a lot of money. $36 million just on the actors alone. Now, whether that is fair/enough and still make a profit I do not know. After all, cable shows don't have to worry about ratings as much as broadcast (since ratings = advertisement money which cable also doesn't have to worry that much about). But that doesn't mean they don't have to worry about ratings.

And that all being said, recession changed the rules. Even the TV industry is cutting back. So Fox 'may' not be the bad the guys here. May being keyword. And I'm sure, they are as every bit of a greedy bastard as we all believe they are.

Toronto Star has it.

LOS ANGELESûThe Star has learned exclusively that the voice cast of Futurama has just signed a new contract with Fox after weeks of intense salary negotiations.

As late as last week, the network was threatening to replace the original voices of Matt Groening's cult-hit cartoon, to the point of actually announcing a casting call for voice actors to replace them.

The compromise agreement, with the studio paying more and the actors accepting less, comes after the announcement of a 26-episode pick-up here by Comedy Central. Futurama also airs internationally in syndication, has produced four bestselling straight-to-DVD movies (later cut into episodes) and an upcoming feature film.

A Fox spokesman, reacting to this story, insisted that only three of the cast have so far signed the deal, but later added that they expect to have the matter resolved by the end of the day.
