Standard pre-release preview. Hope it meets your expectations fully assembled :) Rough, preview quality. etc, etc. You're silly to waste time editing it, but thanks for the thought ^_^

--------
Kakashi looked over his students with an expression that emoted thinly veiled boredom. The expression itself was crafted from years of practice, conveying not simply an emotional void, but an expression that said its owner was simply bored with life in general. Before him on the stone bench sat Sasuke, whose own emotions managed to radiate not just boredom, but dejection as he and the pink haired girl beside him waited.

And waited.

And waited.

The mission objective was simple. Track down and capture Mrs. TanakaÆs cat, return the feline and turn the mission in. The reality of the operation was equally simple, as it allowed his team to cut their teeth on the very basics of being a ninjaùtracking, target acquisition and persecution. Of course, the cat in question would skip the latter phase of the mission and be safely delivered to Mrs. Tanaka without a scratch, only to be purposely let loose again for the next team to track down.

The one eyed Nin suppressed a chuckle. Even he remembered tracking down that damn cat, or at very least one of its cousins. The chuckle failed to reach his visible facial features, however. Far be it from him to show any amusement when the mission was incomplete.

ôMeow!ö

Sakura gave the cat in her lap an absent scratch behind its ears as it butted her arm with its head in a bid for attention. She favored the creature with a brief smile as it purred in her lap before she lapsed back into the grumpy frown her face held only moments before.

ôJust where did that idiot run off to this time? ItÆs not like he could get lost out there!ö

Sasuke nodded with the sentiment, even if he failed to show the outward emotion that his teammate was displaying. The mission parameters were crystal clear: Track down the cat, capture it unharmed and return to the rendezvous point. There was a minor wrinkle in the math; however, as their normally three men team was down one, thus preventing the mission from being complete.

ôSensei! Please reconsider!ö

A single eye moved from the pink bound book he was focused and onto a pink head of hair framing pleading blue eyes. The lips beneath the dark mask seemed to form into a smile, giving Sakura hope that they could end this farce.

ôNo.ö

Her frame went limp with disappointment.

ôDidnÆt seem to matter much when you left him tied to a rockàö Sasuke commented beneath his breath, but the missive was caught by KakashiÆs astute hearing.

ôThe difference there is that I didnÆt lose a member of my team.ö The sensei stressed calmly, ablating SasukeÆs stony gaze back into the earth. KakashiÆs, on the other hand, swept from him to the Sakura. ôOr hasnÆt that sunken in yet?ö

The pink haired girl gulped with the redress as the single eye returned back to its book in silence. It remained there for the next few minutes of uncomfortable silence, shifting left and right ever so slightly as it sifted the contents before another minute passed and a small chuckle escaped his lips. Both students looked up at him irritably as they watched him read the newest volume in his literary hobby, ôCan-Can Revolutionö.

Suddenly the eye stilled and flicked up, scanning the area. Civilian, civilian, civilian shapely redheaded gender changing martial artist, blonde hottie, civilianà Kakashi paused in his search, immediately spotting that which had tickled his senses. Ranma, he immediately recognized. The crimson teen girl was hard to miss in a crowd. The blonde on her left, howeverà

Kakashi blinked. Then blinked again. The blonde couldnÆt beà The Team seven lead was half tempted to pull down the remainder of his mask to reveal the transplanted Sharingan eye just to confirm what he was actually seeing. Naruto pulling pranks under the guise of a female blonde in odangos wasnÆt exactly a new sight, especially for those ANBU tasked with keeping tabs on the boy. Heck, it was almost a rite of passage in their ranks to have new recruits be æaccidentallyÆ exposed to the proxyÆs nude figure at least once, while the laughs its bloodletting produced amused the veterans to no end.

The sight before him was unusual in more ways than one, however. First, this Naruto was fully clothed, easily recognizable in his trademark orange jacket and pants, both articles of clothing were all the more baggy on the female form. Then there was the hair. Unlike the yellow streamers his illusion usually sported, this hair was a wild spiky mane the flowed down her back in a style that closer matched that of his male form.

Kakashi watched as the pair walked toward them from across the park, noting not only the chatter the pair was engaged in, but just how carefully Naruto was taking his steps. Kakashi wasnÆt entirely certain yet, but a feeling of uncertainty began to wash down his spine, much like the one he had felt when watching Ranma change for the first time.

The curse couldnÆt possibly be contagious, could it?

Like Kakashi, Sasuke was now focused on the pair as well, still ambling toward them from over half a park away. His initial reaction differed slightly, however. The bothersome redhead, he recognized immediately. Bothersome, but skilled, he amended silently. Next to her was the blonde, who was also quite attractive and equally well endowed in spite of the baggy orangeà Nobody noticed the boy pale suddenly, and then turn a shade of green.

ôThatùthat idiot!ö Sasuke bolted upright, twitching as the full portent of his traitorous thoughts slammed home...

The last part made my eyes twich at the thought of Sasuke being attracted to Naruto in any form...mainly because of the case of yaoi fangirls reading that and then asking (read: demanding) that it does become a yaoi fanfic.

Although I am somewhat amused at the fact of Kakashi thinking that the curse is a disease and probably tries to avoid Ranma and Naruto like the plague or something.

Ohh more.. nice. Wish there was more then the one scene to comment on. Just one question:

ôCan-Can Revolutionö
Shouldn't that be "Come-Come Revolution"? ("Come-Come" is the name of the series of the pervert's books after all)

or has Kakashi betrayed the super pervert and gone with a rip off?

Ah, an update :yay:

Interesting (to me) that one of the genin brought up the fact that they did indeed leave Naruto tied up and left him way back when. Always thought that was pretty hypocritical of Kakashi to go on bout teamwork then just take off with the other two. Though Naruto shouldn't have been the only one tied up at all in that case, but meh. Bit with Sasuke at the end was funny; seems he does have an interest in the fairer sex, just not fangirls or girls (aka: Ranma) that're capable of kicking his ass without breaking a sweat.

Looking forward to seeing where this is going; the reaction to Naruto ditching his mission ( I think I commented on this last chapter gbut no response) the fact that Ranma is teaching the other girls and Naruto's joining in (Sakura's response to not being included should be good IMO)

somehow I think she is too far gone down the sasuke path to notice, after all she wasn't included to begin with. Me thinks Kurenai thinks she is a lost cause.

And I don't like her anyways. She should just rot in Hell. First for being a big loser in the first part of Naruto and secondly for having been overpowered PTS while Naruto has been nerfed.

Sasuke is an ass, plain and simple. 'Nuff said.

Meowmeow.
Sakura's response is throughly detailed directly after Sasuke's, which got cut off from my post for some reason. Very odd, that.

It sould be noted that there was no Sasuke bashing at all.

One small bit? It mentions Kakashi pulling down his mask, I thought it was lifting his headband to reveal his eye?

What else happened after Ranma agreed? I was surprised the Hokage did not want to get Naruto a check-up to confirm things medically.

Does that mean Ranma will have to teach Naruto about femine hygine?

Before, How many outside of those in the immediate area felt the energy release?

I was also curious about any ANBU guarding the Hokage. Reactions? From Lee and Neji as they may have seen Naruto's change?

Hmm.. currently, how will the Kitty or Ranma react to one another?

Just comments.

Point about the mask.
It's a snippet, you didn't get that part.
I've got you covered.
Not addressed, will think about it.
I'll get there.
Kitty will play a minimal part for now.

Sasuke bashing... Believe it or not, While I despise the character, he's at least got a legit gripe concerning his attitude. That's another part you didn't get. He'll get abused, but not needlessly so and not just for plot funny ha ha. Mostly.

That's my point. What you did was not bashing. You put him in an unfortable situation and let things happen. Mnay people don't actually understand what bashing truly is.

Bashing is the Godzilla thread in the Naruto forums.

Honestly, yes, Sasuke as he has become sucks harder than [insert something that sucks really hard], but the constant "zomfg he sux naruto is tar powerfulz lol" is .... equally aggravating. SAsuke /is/ a major power in his own right, and there's nothing we can change about that without major bashing.

And bashing is just as much fail as pwp-yaoi is.

I agree, this is not bashing, Sasuke's reaction is more intune with what should happen. after all if you are a guy and see an attractive girl walking your way, then start having naughty thoughts, only to realize that its not really a girl but a guy in drag (he thinks its a henge) who would likely only be doing it to piss him and/or Sakura off. His gripe is legitimate for that reason.

Now bashing would be more along the lines of him not noticing until he asks her out despite protests for weeks and being constantly told its Naruto and never listening. since the fault is his own and not the situation, and worsened by the fact it would be badly OC for him it starts to fall under bash category, if barely. A true bash would have none of the character's positive attributes used at all. In a case like this Sasuke did use his positive attributes, his intelligence, his knowledge of Naruto, and his observation ability. the only reason he took as long in IDing the girl as Naruto was probably the hair. also how often he saw the technique. I believe that the only time as yet he would have seen it so far would be the genin test. but then I might have my placement wrong

Over all I find everyone actually very well in character. even Kakashi.

Kakashi strikes me as someone who values knowledge very closely. but simply sucks badly at teaching it. Its not favoritism, he admited to Naruto that he was not good at teaching him what he needed to know. Sasuke's Shanringan allowed him to by-pass his own teaching difficulities by simply doing the technique to him by showing him it to be copied. with Naruto (who seems to be more of a book learner type ironically) he has no such fortune.

But back to the point, Kakashi suddenly being in a position where he has no way to begin to understand Ranma's curse would likely make him very nervous about it. Since he values knowledge and understanding (as shown when he trained Sasuke during the chuunin training month), encountering something that gives him no way to learn or understand it would likely make him slightly paranoid about it. perhaps not enough to be obvious about it, but something subtle like not staying too close to Ranma or making decisions he normally would avoid, like deciding to let Ranma and Naruto take off while turning in the mission sans Naruto. Something he was just very vocal. Somewhat understandable at the moment, but still slightly unusual for him, yet with that in mind IC.

As to Sakura and why she was not included, that would be more of a Kurenai thing. Ino shows potential in areas other then just book learning (Sakura's specialty), I think that was why. Sakura was the atypical example of the stereotypical kunoichi that Kurenai wanted to avoid from what I can guess. Someone who shouldn't be a ninja (the manga-ka even stated that Sakura and Lee were suppose to be human failing given example). As such there was nothing to build off of. Plus it would be Ranma doing the teaching. Another point I can see is that Sakura would not likely try to seek out an older Kunoichi for help in anything other then sasuke chasing and Kurenai would not likely help there. Ino would probably seek any help she could (she complained enough about her lazy sensei that I can see her asking someone for guidance) Tenten also strikes me as the type to seek help, her team is strong, but she would badly need a feminine role model, and the absent Tsunade is not present to be one to seek. Hinata would likely be encouraged by Kurenai to go for it as she always showed interest in the girl.

But Sakura is more of a "I will do it my self and prove I am good on my own to Sasuke" type. This was shown by her tree walking training. She has potential, but under someone like Kakashi she does not get the training she needs. further because of her desire to stay close to him she would prefer to have long useless D class missions and unproductive training sessions near Sasuke then to seek help from someone else. Not to mention there would be the question of how she would learn of Kurenai.

So Sakura's reaction, as I can see it would likely be more along the lines of a thought process like this: "If naruto is a girl now that would mean he could be after Sasuke-kun, no girl can resist him. That is bad, but if he did it to get Kunoichi training then It would mean more time alone with Sasuke-kun. That is good. However I was not invited to this training, but if I went to it, I would have less time training alone with Sasuke-kun. And that is very bad" so I can see that she would be for the idea of Naruto going and not herself, but in her personality requires her to make Sasuke look better so she would probably insult Naruto repeatedly for it, but endorse it for her Sasuke time.

If she had any other motivation that I am missing let me know.

Over all I always liked TeflonBooger's (aka Ozzallos's) characterization, it always felt accurate to me. and so far this fic is no exception.

Actually, I think Sakura may have been refused because she was already receiving training, as well as perhaps her old kunoichi test scores. Then again, from the school, we know there are plenty of female ninjas in training (and for only the artist's reasons, only three made it out in Naruto's year with TenTen the year before). And since ninja teams are based in 3's with one instructor, we couldn't add a fourth.

Fortunately, Naruto is never one to follow the rules, and I'd be surprised if the only reason for that training to continue is Ranma feeling that he now needs to explain what his Minako no Jutsu just did. For all we know (but likely the author does), Naruto may have just used the fox's chakra to copy and paste the Jusenkyo curse onto himself.

Then again, this is all mute until we hear what the author's reasons may be.

I'll be brutally honest, there's no evidence that Ino is any more worthy of special instruction than Sakura, other than the fact that she has a bloodline. Both are pining schoolgirls. The only real difference is that Naruto's author gave us a chance to be annoyed by Sakura while giving Ino little more than token showing. Swap the two out and you might very well have the same result.

The primary reasons I chose Ino are pretty much summed up above... The creator gave me a chance to loath Sakura and I do. Debate my selfishness and preference at your leisure. Ino, on the other hand received no face time and she has one of the most under represented bloodlines in the series. Third, she makes for a tactically sound team. All of that said, Just because Ino is on Ranma's team doesn't mean she gets a pass for being Sakura's petty, spiteful, school girl in love counterpart. Both are and Ino will perhaps pay for it worse as a part of somebody's team who gets annoyed by that sort of behavior.

Hope I'm not being too vague here, but I'm desperately trying to avoid spoilers and such. And thanks so far for the votes of confidence :D

The sad part is unless without a dramatic change to the canon, it's true that Ino will always be like Sakura. The reason I find it sad is that Sakura, with her intellegence and Ino with her Shintenshin jutsu would be remarkable kunoichi if it weren't for the fact that they throw everything away just for the sake of a person that seems to be hell-bent on killing someone before noticing the oppisite sex. And people wonder why there's so much yaoi featuring our angsty little Uchiha.

Ya know, you do have to remember that they are what like 12? Everyone was self centered at that age, and its not uncommon for first crushes to be something one centers their life around.

Honesstly, I personally feel that Sakura and Ino would be great Kunoichi, in about 5 years :D . The trick is getting them to live that long.

It is only because of the anime that many of these characters were further developed. We learned a reason for why Ino would be trained in medical jutsu (seen in the manga PTS but only answered in the last episode of the anime before PTS).

Hell, without the filler, we wouldn't have seen more of their personalities, development, becoming their own fighters. Hell, we have the anime to thank for flushing out Anko's background.

Which raises the question: how much influence does Kishi have towards the anime? They seem to do a better job filling plot holes than he does.

They might all be twelve...but they've supposedly been trained for years to actually go out and be ninja. You'd think that if the Village is gonna draft it's armed forces that early the training would involve stomping that sorta stupid outta them.

Depends if you want mindless automaton that have no life outside of battle and that will crack quickly if they make it out of their teams. Emotional growth is necessary, and quite honestly humane. Crushes are quite honestly part of that growth.
