We all know how this series goes. Cobra's the bad guy. Terrorists. G.I. Joe is the good guys, heroes to everyone. Cobra tries lots of schemes to take over the world, they fail because of incompetence and...

Oh, wait, that's the 80s G.I. Joe.

THIS version, Cobra basically HAS taken over the world, just by having "legit" companies that do medicine, communications, defense technologies, as well as shipping and grocery stores.

So, Scarlett gets Duke, Snake Eyes, Roadblock, Tripwire and one other (forget his name) to check out a medicine facility.

When they get out of there, the Joes are branded traitors and terrorists (with Tripwire being dead) and Cobra's seen as the good guys even more by the public.

And Cobra is freaking COMPETENT this time around! Instead of nameless human characters that couldn't be shot, they replaced them with "Bio-Vipers", which are basically "blob-like" creatures that can be "killed" over and over again, with no problem, because they can regen easily.

Cobra is so dangerous this time around that if it wasn't for Snake Eyes, the Joes would have ALL been killed by episode 3.

Just to point out how dangerous Cobra is...

Major Bludd damn near beat Snake Eyes in a one-on-one fight, no back-up, in hand-to-hand combat.

What's the point of taking over the world if you have to do things legitimately? More money?

Better question, why would you ever take it over any other way? If you own everything legitimately there's not much that anyone can do about it without, yeah, ending up looking like terrorists or douchebags. Military aggression leads to rebellions and wannabe-heroes. Mind control devices can be broken, etc. If you just buy everything? You end up with more money at the end, don't have to deal with broken infrastructure and casualties from military takeover, all that good stuff.

True. still it does lack the oomph of the pyramid of darkness or the weather dominator.

But we can still have <a href='http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/animation/watch/v17060413gkFh4Qhf' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'> Cobrathon </a>

So, I was watching Friday's episode and...

I KNEW IT!

I just KNEW that Storm Shadow was going to be trouble!

I said "man, what's going to happen when Storm Shadow appears?" to my roommate.

Friday's episode?

Storm Shadow appeared.

Took out the Joes (Roadblock, Duke, Tunnel Rat, Scarlett), then, THEN he beat Snake Eyes and set the building they were in (Snake Eyes' dojo) on fire and walked out to watch it burn as the episode ended.

Holy fuck yeah! Ninjas who actually ACT like Ninjas?! Gods, I was WORRIED that we'd see nothing but Kishi-baka level "ninjas" forever. (The only Ninja that was this awesome was Zuuma from Slayers Revolution and Evolution-R.)

So, the Joes are wimps. That must be the theme. "How much will I make the good guys suck before this show is canceled?"

This.

It's all well and good to reimagine a show but... to have the good guys constantly lose? Whats the point?

That Life is shit?

They're on the run, remember? The enemies will have the advantage for the moment...Eventually, when Cobra's exposed, then they'll be the badasses we remember.

The Show is called G.I. Joe Renegades so basically the premise of the whole show is that the Joe's are on the run.

Hmm... You never saw A-Team, did you?

The Joes aren't SUPER ELITES in this series (outside of Snake Eyes). They're highly trained, yes, but they aren't specifically trained to deal with Cobra.

The ONLY members that are PART of Cobra, so far, have been Commander, Dr. Mindbender, and Baroness.

Bludd? Mercenary that sometimes works with Cobra for the right price.

Storm Shadow? Leader of a Ninja clan. Wasn't even concerned with Cobra's stuff until his men caught a glimpse of Snake Eyes.

Wimps?

Hardly.

The bad guys are just that damn good.

Shee... At least it's better than the 80s series where the bad guys were complete incompetent morons.

I keep on wishing that the soldiers/blobs will shout "COBRA!" while charging/firing.

If they aren't elite they will continue to lose against the elite. I don't care that they will eventually win. We will always know that the Joes are losers.

Yeah, but then they'd go and scream "COBRA! RETREAT!" :p

To be honest, I'd rather have competent bad guys who are a THREAT than incompetent ones.

I mean, 1980's G.I. Joe? Cobra shows up, causes some problems, then gets beaten in an episode.

THIS G.I. Joe? Cobra does suffer set-backs, but they don't go "RETREAT" like they did in the 80s.

*nods*

Competent bad guys? Far better than Incompetent idiots.

It's far more fun to watch good guys beat bad guys that are a real threat than bad guys who are a joke.

Huh, you know, I thought I saw a response to this thread, but then I realized that it was just my imagination.

Huh, and here I had a thing about fully trained soldiers going against competent enemies, but, you know, I can shelve that, since there's no one who responded.

Huh, Storm Shadow vs Snake Eyes, WOW...

Just... WOW...

THAT was a good fight. Didn't get to see a lot of it, since we had background stuff going on, sadly.

Still, it was pretty even, we got some of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow's back story.

Believe what you want.

I've NEVER read Twilight.

If you ask what team I'm on, I'm saying Team Belmont.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but look at <a href='http://www.yojoe.com/magazine/solicitations/2007/images/americaselite25.jpg' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>this</a> and let me ask you one question: How well do you know your Joes?

Seriously I can name at least a third at a glance alone. Bombstrike, Deep Six, Barbecue, Blowtorch, Air Tight, Wet Suit, Kamakura, Jinx, Lady Jaye, Flint, Falcon, Beach Head, Stalker, Scarlett, Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes, Keel Haul, Leatherneck, Gung Ho, Duke, Hawk, Tunnel Rat, Heavy Duty, Roadblock, Sgt. Slaugher, Law & Order, Mutt & Junkyard, Spirit, Doc, Shipwreck, Low Light, Big Lob, Red Dog, Taurus, Quick Kick, Snow Job, Frost Bite, Ice Berg, Chuckles, Dial Tone, Wild Bill, Bazooka, Alpine, Sci Fi, Clutch, Cutter, Dusty, Cross Country, Footloose, Outback, The Fridge, Recondo, Slip Stream, Tollbooth, Tripwire, Rock n Roll(Later design I think), Grunt, Zap, Short Fuze, Steeler, Grand Slam, Fast Draw, Lt. Stone, General Rey, Agent Faces, Heavy Metal, Firewall, Flagg, Hi Tech, Psyche Out, Sparks,

Had to double check a few and I may have missed some. I also think some like Rock n Roll are in one of their altered uniforms. How hard can it be to find a blond beared guy with bullets strapped across his chest in a x shape? I think he's the blond bearded guy behind Shipwreck-who also is in one of his different outfits.
