Good Horror Comics

Personally, I loved DC's horror line from the 60's-80's. House of Mystery, Weird War Tales, others like those. And EC ... man was that some great shit.

DC/Vertigo tried to resurrect the Horror comic genre with Flinch, but that didn't last long.

I realize that many comic readers today are just plain jaded, but come on! There was some great stuff out there! We need them back!

I would love to get my hands on some of those books! My childhood was made on those books... especially Weird War Tales.

What were/are some of your favs? Discuss!

The comic code happened. It was made to kill those early horror stories because they were challenging the bigger publishers. It worked.

It knocked that genre right out of the mainstream, and it never really got back into it, or the profits that come from being there.

The Alien and Predator comics are pretty good, Dark horse never really followed the comic code

Yeah, the Comics Code completely fucked up the horror genre. EC went under because some asshole decided to 'protect America's youth'. It's the same ass that claimed Batman was gay because he hung out with Robin. But House of Mystery and Weird War Tales lasted awhile, and Swamp Thing lasted a long time.

I loved most of the early Tomb of Dracula comics. Maybe I'll look up some of the other old horror comics soon.

Always liked Sandman Mystery Theatre 1993-1999. The problem is stories arcs
are 3-5 comics long and I can never seem to find them all.
