Good Self Inserts/OC's?

Any good fics starring self inserts or oc's? I've read a few but that's only in a few genre's of anime any one know any good ones in other genres? Throw out any anime ones too.... i'm sure i haven't read them all.

For some reason i'm just in the mood for self inserts. Haven't read a decent one since FF7 Experience or whatever it was called years ago and Carrots old stories.

I once read a cracky FFVII self-insert called Alternate Earth back in my pre-TFF days that wasn't completely horrible. I actually thought it was excellent back then, though it's a bit faded now, especially since the author was forced to rewrite it twice due to FF.net repeatedly removing it for random reasons (and because a troll kept reporting the fic for - usually - false infractions) and finally gave up and never reposted the full fic. It also degenerated into an OC-fest towards the end of the 'first season' and sadly stayed that way until the author went to college and stopped writing.

Really, though, I think it's the only self-insert I've ever seen where the SIs try to outshine the main cast, fail, and are soon relegated to shoveling Chocobo shit for another ten chapters or so.

That's not to say that there aren't good original charactes out there - loot at Black Dragon's stuff.

Eh, Kieran's Legacy of Fate and Venus Tenshi's Two Worlds Combined are pretty good. TWC takes some time to get rolling, and is a good example of 'Murphy HATES you'.

Then there's Sleeping with the Girls. Which tends to be hit or miss, really. But, I like it.

Also enjoyable is <a href='http://www.fanfiction.net/u/713916/Admiral_Tigerclaw' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Admiral-Tigerclaw's</a> Sleeping with the Girls series, 2 parts, 1st complete.

Bubblegum Crisis self insert. Very, very good IMO.

I read it before actually watching BGC, and feel it really adds to that world then what we got from the original 8 episodes (which are still great by themselves).

Yeah, it sucks that the sites gone. Thankfully I saved everything on there before Geocities shut down though do you know if reocities saved it? I don't have the original geocities url to check.

I'm rather fond of <a href='http://www.bladeandepsilon.com/hybridtheory.htm' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Hybrid Theory</a>. Among other things, it's one of the rare self-inserts which actually has a plot. It's complete. And it's gihugenormous.

It's also named after a Linkin Park album.

Which makes it fail in my not so humble opinion.

Well with me... my hard drive fizzled out.. i mean literally... it freaking made a fizzle noise and just died. Happy with my newer 2tb one though :D but yea... lost a lot of fics i had saved since i started saving them back when all these sites were dying left and right... till i learned to use wayback machine. Man.. i've had that hard drive forever... thought it was immortal.. recycled it so many times it wasn't funny. Thing was like the cockroach of harddrives... lasted me over 5 years probably close to or more then 10 :blink:

Thanks for the recommends. Wish some of them had links but i'll at least give them all a look and try to find the ones without a link. I know a good self insert/oc is an oxymoron but the few gems are worth it. Sometimes you get tired of reading about a certain hero but that universe is still interesting and you want to read what a totally new character might do in it.

It's like you're desperately trying to pin the story on paper before it vanishes.

Fanfiction authors are boring people I have no interest in interacting with personally 99% of the time. Their idealized view of themselves is worse. (That 1% being mog and pridefall).
