Health woes... revealed!

Well, there goes my ELC4 entry. Apparently, the reason why my arms felt strange is that I have symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. So, for a good long while, I can forget about using the PC, lest it get worse. That, of course, means no typing for my ELC4.

It's a shame, since just yesterday I made some progress, but my health is more important than a contest.

I may not get online for quite a while, so I suppose this is goodbye for now. See you all when I get better...

Later all!

Gah. How far along is it, or rather, how bad is it?

No, never mind that. Glad it got diagnosed sooner rather than later. :/ I pray you won't get bored, being away from so many repetitive hand-related activities. :p

I hope the treatments will be swift and effective, but until then, I'll be waiting. ^^

Bummer.

Take care of yourself, onii-chan. I'll look forward to your return.

Maybe then we can exchange aborted ELC-4 entries... if I ever finish mine.

Be careful mate! I wish you a full, fast recovery.

*On a related note, is it just me or his luck isn't all that good? And that's putting it lightly.

Indeed. My best wishes on your recovery. I hope that they have given you braces to help stabilize your wrists.

You may be able to find some freeware voice activation software if you have a headset. There's also a program that I think is called "Dragon Naturally speaking" that can do pretty good voice transcription for you. You may be able to obtain a sample version on the net somewhere.

I hope your hands get better soon.

Hmm, your luck with health seems about like my luck with computers...not good. Though granted my bad luck is from my incompetence, while yours is just plain bad luck.

Anyways, my condolences to you and here's hoping you get better soon.

Carpal tunnel syndrome? Holy crap.

Well, I certainly hope you'll be fine, GH. But then again, to sit here and say that it sounds bad just doesn't quite say how bad it might be for you.

Take as much time as you need, GH, and get well soon.

Hmmm...

Well...

While rest will aleviate the symtoms, the problem is likely to be had for the long term.

Carpul tunnel means the nerves themselves are inflamed and overworked, Or alternatively, the mucles and bone have narrowed the mainline tube they travel through.

You could check to see if your doctor thinks cortizone shots might help, but they will not if you are too far along.

Surgery is what my mother had to have for it.

Ouch...that just sucks... :(

Hope you get well soon, this place just isn't the same without you.

Maybe you could learn to type with your feet? :p

And somehow, I cannot stop thinking of that pic Nugar uploaded here some time ago... What have you been up to, GH?

Okay, I spoke to my doc.

He said that right now, my nerves are jarred, but it's not CTS proper. I can still use a PC, provided that I keep it very brief.

So, I'll still be posting, but only rarely.

Just giving you an update. Later, all.

Well, if it's not that bad it's good (does that sound kind of strange?), still take care of yourself and I hope you get better soon. ^_^

I am happy to hear that it isn't full blown CTS; I hope things will pan out in the future for ya.

Likewise, I hope you get better soon.

Most of my friends and relatives who have had wrist-joint problems, CTS and otherwise, report that increasing your Vitamin C intake and cutting back on sodium helps the joint heal faster. Wrist braces can help, but don't wrap them too tight. An ergonomic "natural" keyboard might be good to help keep the problem from coming back soon, too.
