It probably needs a better title.
This idea is peripherally dogbertcarroll's fault, due to the snippet below, from Fragments 26:
This idea is only distantly related, as it involves Harry designating Hermione as the person other girls have to convince, if they want a date with him. Why does he need someone to do that? Well, an 'error' in Gringotts (probably helped along by an infusion of gold) resulted in part of Harry's bank statement falling into the hands of a reporter for Teen Witch Weekly - specifically, his net worth. While Harry is not the richest person among the wizards and witches of the British Isles, he is in the top twenty or so, and only needs to wait until he's of age to fully access it. Thus, gold-diggers suddenly become very, very interested in him (especially if its before Fifth Year, or after Seventh; for the latter, assume that Ron and Hermione are not currently an item), and nicer girls (e.g. Luna, Susan, the Patil twins, maybe Ginny - if you don't hate/have contempt for her) who were taking their time, suddenly feel the need to save him from said gold-diggers.
Of course, announcing that you have to convince Hermione if you want to date him, just leads to another set of assumptions on the part of the magically raised: he's 'obviously' forming a harem, and Hermione will be Head Wife. That scares away most of the women, and draws in a small number of others. Some of them may decide that the way to win, is to seduce Hermione, first.
One wonders just how long it will be, before Harry and Hermione find out what most of the rest of Wizarding Britain thinks is going on. Likewise, one wonders how they'll react to this information.
Does not need to have an actual harem.

dogbertcarroll said:
"And Hermione is mine!" Harry said firmly.
"Harry!" Hermione said, blushing brightly û everyone however noticed, she wasn't objecting.
"Hey!" Ginny protested.
"Fine, I'll share Hermione with you," Harry sighed. "I didn't know you were close friends with her, but I'm certainly not going to keep her from seeing her friends."
"Wait! What kind of mine do you mean à err relationship wise à" Hermione stumbled about.
"Whatever type of relationship you want," Harry replied firmly. Best friend was certainly an open slot, now with Ron gone and he had never been quite sure she wasn't his best friend anyway.
She blushed brightly, realizing Harry was allowing her to set the boundaries in their relationship to whatever she felt comfortable with meaning he trusted her completely.
"Oh, and can you read the letter Luna sent me? It seems to be a logical argument on why I should be molesting her at every opportunity."
"What?"
Harry nodded. "I know, she's a nice girl and I don't want to hurt her feelings, but I'm nearly as good at forming logical arguments as you are and she has some very compelling arguments in there."
