Akamatsuverse Hot Springs and Straw Hats

After putting together a plausible plot for a Ranma 1/2 and One Piece fusion, I was bit by another idea to fuse another anime into One Piece. The wide breadth and flexibility of the One Piece world allows for fusions very easily with just a little imagination.

And the fusion, of course, is with Love Hina.

"If two people get to the end of the Grand Line, then they will live happily ever after! Promise me you'll be there!"

Keitaro Urashima, two-time reject from the Marine Academy, gets a letter from his grandmother telling him to come to her berthed relaxation ship the Hinata Sou. COming there, he learns his grandmother is, in fact, an infamous pirate who sailed into the New World-And wants him to get this crew of female pirates, all with hopes and dreams of their own, to the end of the Grand Line. Thanks to the Portable Hot Springs (thanks to a Dial Hina got from Skypeia), and their mascot Tama, they become known as the Hot Springs Turtle Pirates.

Keitaro in this story would have the King's Haki to thank for his invulnerability, as would Mutsumi for her own and Naru for her incredible strength. He becomes the shield for his crew, taking punishment and later learning how to use his Haki to break through the defenses of enemies, allowing them to strike. Outside of battle he is his usual canon self-Underconfident, clumsy, and a bit gullible. Inside it though, he will plant himself in front of any enemy and stand up to them no matter the cost if someone he cares for is at stake.

If Keitaro is the shield, then Naru is the spear and Motoko is the sword. Naru serves as navigator due to her natural intelligence, but like Keitaro she too is a reject from the Marine Academy despite wishing to get into it. Making a promise to someone long ago, she's determined to get to the end of the Grand Line to keep it. Motoko, naturally, wishes to surpass her sister and take over the Shinmei Ryu school, but she didn't expect to find love along the way.

Kitsune is the ship's gunner and purser, happily conning everyone out of their belongings and sometimes her own crew (though she treats everyone else far worse). Su is their engineer, self-exiled princess of Mol Mol out to have some fun (and maybe bring back a husband later). Shinobu is the ship's cook, able and kind. Haruka serves as the quartermaster and keeps things running, but will not do everything for Keitaro-He is the captain, after all. Mutsumi joins the crew as well, helping with navigation and piloting and of course combat given her abilities match Keitaro's (though she faints frequently). And the rambunctious girl Sarah is left in their care as her adopted father Seta is a wanted archaeologist, running from the World Government.

They might cross paths with Luffy from time to time, but even if their destination is the same they'll get there by different routes.

Discuss!

From what's been in OP so far the King's Haki doesn't grant any increased physical or mental attributes to the person who has it, its all about intimidating others. Resistance is the Color of Armaments.

Dude, Haki allows normal arrows to punch through stone and to make one impervious to a certain level of attack power. I think they'd be covered.

King's Haki is only intimidation. It is literally just the Color of the Conqueror.

And I don't see how that legend would be passed down, considering only one person ever did it.

All three would just be versed in Color of Armaments.

Well, crap. Okay, super strength and super durability are certainly not out of the question in the One Piece world so that works. And Keitaro's willpower being expressed as Haki would work-He wouldn't know what it is, how it works, or anything, but he's in the right position to use it when someone he loves is in danger.

I get the feeling you're letting the mechanics of one universe usurp the characters of another. Seems more like OCs in One Piece with a bit of Love Hina flavor than Love Hina characters with a little One Piece flavor in the One Piece universe.

Then again, I never really got too much into One Piece. So my opinion/input/whatever might not be that important.

Well, I have far too much on my plate as it is. Just consider this an open idea, free to a good writer.

Also, a very, very small snippet:

"It's said that who ever conquers the Grand Line will have all their wishes granted. So let's meet at the end of the Grand Line again, alright?" The girl said.

"But only one person has ever done it," Keitaro replied.

"And he became a Legend, having all the fame and wealth of the world." She kissed his cheek and smiled at his blush. "I'm willing to make the journey..." She extended her hand to him. "Are you?"

And the dream ended, as it always had. Leaving Keitaro Urashima staring at the sky as he awoke. The stars were still out above him, and with a sigh, he looked up into the infinite wonder of the universe, and wished it would give him some sign as to how to keep his promise.

It was the promise of a lifetime, after all. He couldn't... Wouldn't... Break that.
