Right, so my friend read the book and though it was pretty good, and wanted to watch the movie.

On the other hand, I've heard people calling "twilight" about the movie.

So folks, what do you lot say? Worth watching or not?

If you read the book, you'll have higher expectations about the movie than if you didn't.

Personal Example) I read the Harry Potter books and watched every movie. I was slightly disappointed each and every time.

If your friend goes in expecting it to be exactly like the book, she/he are going to be disappointed.

If however, you watch the movie and view it as independent of the book, you'll enjoy it much more.

I read the Hunger Games series, I'm going to watch the movie, it's worth it.

And I shall do the opposite! Because that girl was an unlikable character and I felt the read was 'meh' overall.

I haven't read the book, but from what I've seen in the trailer and heard about the book's audience, basically...

In the same way that Twilight made the vampire genre into teenage romance novels, it seems like the Hunger Games does that with the dystopian future genre, which makes me depressed because unlike the vampire genre, the dystopian future genre actually meant something.

It's not like Twilight at all. Katniss is a strong and reliable female protagonist in her own right, quite different from the useless cunt in Twilight. The film might turn out shit, but there's no Twilight suck in any of these books as far as I can see.

Hm, think I mentioned this in the book thread the other day.

Basically a rip-off of Battle Royale and dumbed down, toned down, all for an American teenage girl audience.

Later books apparently stopped ripping it off, and then most people agreed it wasn't as good as the first.
