I want to rip apart a mecha

Robo Fighto. Gah, it makes me want to tear myself in half. I had an easier time learning material in my Nutrition Class From Hell. :headbanger: Please correct me where I'm wrong, so that we all can have a springboard for better understanding of this mind****. (NOTE: Everything I've read on McM's forum doesn't cut it. I'm trying to get this all explained clearly, without someone threatening to ban me if I don't understand.)

Starting from the beginning:

Everybody starts at level 5, range 10, push chance 70%, no bonuses, Rank H (or whatever rank is below Rank G).

To get bonuses, you have to build a mecha out of certain permanent items. You have five slots:
  • head
  • torso
  • left arm
  • right arm
  • both legs
You are allowed to make pretty much any combination of parts that are available to you, including "none" (i.e. an empty slot).

Your rank is determined by the "highest-level" permanent item that you have.

KNIGHTMARE FRAME: Brings you to G-Rank. You get five pieces of the Knightmare Frame to use as you wish. Each piece you use gives you +1 range, no additional bonuses.

PLUG SUIT: Brings you to F-Rank. You get to use this only in your "Torso" slot. It gives you +2 strength, Berserk 5, Juiced 10.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Currently incomplete:

Needs more detail on any and all other permanent items that can be used in Robo Fighto.

Needs somebody to explain exactly what is "Berserk", what is "Juiced", etc.

Needs someone to explain how to score 400+ in the Training Tournament and Naked Warrior. (No parts allowed in either tournament, apparently.)

Needs strategy pointers on how to get good at this part of BvS.

Needs someone to explain what the "Piloting Bonus" is, and why it doesn't seem to affect anything.

You can enter Naked Warrior to win a G-rank part also, that will let you enter G-rank tournaments.
If you have a complete set of G-Rank items you can enter... Umm one of the F-rank tournaments to win a F-rank part so that you can enter F-Rank tournaments. There is also Poor Man F-Rank which can only be done in G-Rank gear.

Hover over the descriptions on the Robo Fighto page. They are to the right of the Rebuild Your Robo drop down boxes.

The RNG must love you. You kinda need Mister Roboto too.

Needs strategy pointers on how to get good at this part of BvS.
Money. Lots of it.
Train your pilot bonus to the maximum you can get it.

Needs someone to explain what the "Piloting Bonus" is, and why it doesn't seem to affect anything.
It adds one extra level to each attempt you make, it must be higher than zero to do so. Your bonus is only as much as the points of your highest rank part equipped is. If your best part is G you bonus is a max of one. If it's F your max bonus is two, etc.
Your max bonus is determined by how many different rank parts you have. If you have a G-rank and a S-rank you have a max of 2. If you have a G-rank, a F-rank, and an E-rank you have a max pilot bonus of 3. G+F+E+S is 4, etc.

EDIT: Vex... You vex me.

The only other Permanent Items that can be used in RoboFighto (But do not originate in Robo Fighto), are Regalia and Soul of Steel.

Regalia is a Rank F Leg-Part, and adds +2 Range and +1 Success (I do not know how Successes work).

Soul of Steel is a Rank F Chest-Part, and adds +5% Push.

Any and all Effects are explained in a list to the side of the "Rebuild Your Robo" Section of the screen, simply mouse over and it will display a text tooltip.

Luck is the primary tool in early tournaments to determine if you will or will not win. Will explain more at the end of this post.

Piloting Bonus is Additional Non-Bonus Levels. Think of it as the equivalent of (Ninjutsu Level 6), while your parts are the (+3 Ninjutsu Levels in Permanent Items), you have to train (Paid with Stamina) to increase it, and the probability is ridiculously low.

Now finally here is how Robo Fighto works.

When you play in a Tournament, you obtain a Score, this score is equal to all of your dice rolls added together.

Your Levels are equal to individual Dice Rolls, or in other words.

5 Levels, means each time you play you roll 5 dice.

You start at the Standard of 0 Strength, 0 Range, 0 Successes however.

1 Range increases the maximum score of each individual dice roll.

1 Strength presumably has the same effect as normal Strength, increasing every roll by one, up to the maximum possible roll.

1 Success, I'm not sure, possibly gives you one free "Maximum Roll"

Now comes Push, which starts at 70% for everyone. To understand Push you need to understand how Score works.

After you play once in a Tournament, you get a Score, which let's say is 35.

Now you have two options, you can either Push, or Lock.

If you Lock then your score is locked in and can no longer be changed for that tournament until it's end.

If you Push, you can either Successfully Push, or Unsuccessfully Push and Fail. This is decided by your Push %.

If you Succeed then you will roll again, let's say it's a 40 this time. This new score is added to your previous, giving you a total of 75 for that tournament.

If you push a third time and get a 30, you'd have a total score of 105.

However, if you Fail a push you lose all of your score and must pay to re-enter the tournament (Successful Pushing does not cost any Ryo).

A free success is indeed a max roll.

Every time you enter a tournament you haven't competed in that day, you receive 10 free Training Stamina. You can spend 20 Stamina, (Training or actual) to attempt to increase your pilot bonus (adds +1 Robo level). The percentage to do so sucks (starts at 1%), but increases .1% every time you fail. Once you've managed to increase it, the percentages reset and the training Stamina cost increases (40 Stamina to attempt to train from +1 to +2). Your max pilot bonus is determined by the parts you have - +1 Max for G-rank parts, +2 if you own F-Rank parts, etc.

Your Push is simply the percentage chance per roll you have to not fail.

Anything else, I'll leave to ar_ranma.
EDIT: See? Just like that.

Yeah forgot about those.

Don't forget you will fail by 0-15 points everytime you get high enough to have a chance at winning. RNG hates you.

If you enter a tournament you can't change parts unless you lock your score in your current tournament (or fail your attempt). If you lock a tournament you can't can unlock it without failing.

E-ranks parts are a bigger pain that the G and F parts combined... Except the friggen Bikini.

The Training % doesn't reset when you level. Mine stayed at 5%.

Alright, I really appreciate all the explanations given this far.

Now for more questions:

1) How to get the piloting bonus. Been there, done that. Now, why the f*** doesn't it do anything? My rolls are completely unchanged.

2) Beserk, Juiced, etc. I know the descriptions are listed on the Robo Fight page, but that doesn't mean they're understandable. Layman's terms, anyone?

EDIT) Oh, and does Mister Roboto bloodline count towards achieving Sannin?

1)It add levels depending on the current Robot's rank. G: +1 max piloting bonus . F: +2 max piloting bonus, ect.

No part means no bonus level.

2)They're clear to me. If a part has an ability, it may be followed by a number. Let's take the plugsuit Berserk:5 Juiced:5.

Berserk 5 means you have +(5) levels on the first push. And only at that push. Juiced 5 means you got (5)% chance of rolling a negative number on each roll.

Also, a tip: if you got G-rank parts for every body part, forget G-rank tournaments. F-Rank Partswar has 10% of the entries as winners. Sometimes, you're lucky enough to win something with a score in the 300s. So forget wasting money on getting more G rank parts.

Heck, I just checked and a score of 207 just won an F part.

Edit) Probably, but it would be better to go get something else instead.

Mister Roboto is a bloodline. Sannin needs 4 Bloodlines.

Ergo, Mister Roboto counts, yes.

Ah, but if you read the mission description carefully, it says
I have 4+ basic bloodlines
... hence my question. Can somebody please test this?

@Megaolix - Okay, I understand "Juiced" now, but what about the rest of the abilities?

I thought you just bought the jutsu; buying Advanced Redeye doesn't give the +7-28% AP/XP bonus, etc to my knowledge, so I hadn't thought that it would actually count as a bloodline.

That's right, you only get the jutsu from Awesome, not the bloodline.

Grah!!!!!! I HATE THE PLUG SUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Plug Suit: +2 Strength, Berserk 5, Juiced 10.

The chance of making a successful 11th push in a "King of the Hill E-Rank" tournament is 0.863%. The chance of getting three negative rolls is .1%. They should NOT happen at the SAME F*&^ing TIME!

I should've had at least 1100 there. :blue: Damn Robo Fighto.

I won a pass for this friday. That doesn't leave me much time to try to get the bloodline again...

I also wonder what would eb the best combo of parts. Should I maximize safety and go for 80% push chance and not use the Foam Launcher with Risky 1 Chained 1? Or should I tempt fate... hmm, decisions, decisions.

What exactly does Tinfoil Bikini do? It's the only Tinfoil part I don't have, and I was wondering if that's how people have been reaching 1300+ lately in King of the Hill E-Rank tournaments.

KotH E-Rank tournaments are f***ing hard. I've only won once on each of my alts.
