Bleach Ichigo: Father Figure

An idea born from that horrible idea thread that shall not be named.

While out together as a family, a hollow is attracted to Ichigo and his family and attacks them.

Isshin barely manages to get his family out of the way in time and is severly injured by the hollow. Realizing he doesn't have much time left, he turns to the currently 11-12 year old Ichigo and performs a technique. He knows he can't access his powers, and he knows Ichigo can't access his own. So in a similar method to what Rukia does, he focuses all of his intent on Ichigo and transfers his control into Ichigo.

Ichigo makes quick work of the simple hollow after that. But his memory as a temporary Shinigami disappears and he is left with both parents dead. But realizing what he must do, Ichigo takes care of his sisters.

So this idea has basically two ways of going.

A serious path where Ichigo is taking care of his little sisters and thus has his personality changed (not completely mind you) over this.

Or a crack path, where we get Uber Brother Ichigo who is super protective and must be updated on his sister's whereabouts constantly. He is even so terrified of what will happen to his sisters, that he brings them with him to Soul Society so he can always take care of them even when fighting to save Rukia.

The serious path is the only path worth mentioning. Crack is epic fail.

Crack is not epic fail if you want to just do the guilty pleasure of writing it.

Besides, you could easily write a lot of comedy into this situation while keeping it serious. So disregarding the crack side could diminish some of the potential.

I agree. Pure crack woul give a few very entertaining snippets, maybe even as much as three chapters. But that's it. You skip a lot of the serious stuff, adapt a bunch of scenes...

If you go the serious path however...Ichigo would be a lot more matue. Less likely to go into a fit of anger or lash out (he wouldn't charge the Seireitei resulting in the walls coming down (literally)). It would make for some very serious flashbacks, or a lot more stuff to be written before Rukia even shows. And with his dad's powers backing him and boosting the growth of his own power, he would be a lot stronger. I'mnot talking about having two Zanpakutous, or wielding both Zangetsu and the spirit of his father's blade, but simply pure power. Withoutcontrol his blade might be twice the size it is at the beginning...then again even without reembering it, he could have gotten a handle on it since it has been with him for so long.

One thing you would ave to take into accoun is that with more Reiatsu, more Hollows could be atracted to him, and his sisters might grow more rapidly in power from not only being exposed to more power, but also comming into contact with said power more often. Since Ichigo would be there for a lot of the times that his dad used to be. And if they are scared and sad over their loss, his sisters would come to him. A less profound effect could be seen in his friends, but eventhen that bit more of exposure might be enough to awaken Tatsuki, or have his friends cme into their own earlier.

Which could lead to them fighting Hollows a la Quincy style, unsupervised by the Shinigami. They might only know the barest of them even, just what snippets Hollows reveal before they are destroyed.

Meh, I'd rather avoid making Ichigo an Uber!Char. Someone that becomes super powerful.

And what Isshin gave him was not power. He had no access to his powers at the time. What he gave him at that particular time was control.

Captain level control over Ichigo meager (at the time) power to save his sister's lives.

But it would be something that a young kid wouldn't be able to understand or contain and would probably lose or forget it at that time.

However, the very fact that he would be bonding a lot more strongly with his sister could produce the effects you are discussing, him awakening something inside of them. Hard to say.

Haven't though too much past the current point at this time.

As a crack idea it would drag after several chapter as a serious fic your forgetting Japan like most developed countries has a child welfare system and wouldn't let a twelve year old boy play daddy to two girl who aren't even school age.

Also after Ichigo kills the hollow and his Dad is dead who put him back into his body?

Idea fails try again later.

Apparently you misunderstand what an idea that can be both crack and serious and a crack idea is. It's ok, I know you're stupid so I don't hold it against you.

If it was just them as it is. However, kids of a certain age can live on their own in Japan as long as it is in consent of their guardian adult. Getting around systems is not as difficult as you make it out to be kid.

But regardless, I did not say they would be living on their own. I stated that it would be Ichigo taking care of his sisters.

There is a difference. I know again, you're stupid so I can't really hold you make stupid comments against you.

Ichigo and his sisters could be adopted by a friend's family etc.

So either way, you're an idiot.

To bad foster families in Japan are looked down upon to put it lightly and only recently has the Government shown any positive attention to the Japanese Foster care system.

Research and fact are better then childish insults. -_-

And apparently you misunderstand the difference between foster care and adoption.

Too bad you fail at intelligence.

Not to interrupt the pointless insults but Lance does raise a valid point; how does Ichigo know how to return to his body/react to the fact that he's apparently in two places at once?
That freaked him out enough in canon let alone happening in traumatic circumstances without anyone to explain what's going on.

Depending on how you want this to work it might serve as a window to explore other characters; perhaps Uryuu's father explains things for him; if I remember correctly the guy works in a hospital so its plausible he could be present, either walking by or when the girls are being treated.

Hell Uryuu's grandfather might be alive then and could serve as a friendly face before the trauma makes Ichigo forget.

He doesn't necessarily have to come out of his body to do it.

They can use a mild arrange of abilities while in their gigai, so I imagine it would transfer to human bodies as well(what's his name that is on the television show shows that people can use abilities in human bodies I believe.). This hollow is a minor one, but without his powers Isshin is incapable of dispatching it. But with a little knowledge, Ichigo does have the power to do so.

If you're thinking of Don Kanonji (sp?) that would be because his spiritual powers, alongside those of Sado, Uryuu and Orihime are very different to those of Shinigami.

What did you have in mind? Kido would be stretching it since that's a complex art that requires extensive training and the majority, if not the entirety of a Shinigami's remaining repertoire requires either a Zanpakto or a spiritual body.

I was thinking Kido.

Remember, the premise is that Isshin is temporarily transfering his knowledge, not his power, because his knowledge is all he has.

It works to a very small degree, enough for the dispatching and then overwhelms Ichigo.

I was planning along the lines of there being a side effects to it though. Memories that aren't his plaguing him.

Ah, I was wondering about that.

See in the premise you stated 'control' not 'knowledge' these are two quite different things.

Is this a focused transplantation of memories/ingrained reflexes or just a general 'download'?

Having Isshin's whole life knocking around in his head could really screw Ichigo up even if he can't remember it at first so yeah, I'd certainly include some side-effects.
I mean must kids shudder to think about their parents having sex but Ichigo might actually remember it!!

Having Isshin's skills take on a reflexive position would work, Ichigo instinctively recognising a kido or Rukia's status as Shinigami for example although it could actually screw him over in some places such as in the handling of his sword.

It was more about How to control his power really.

So yeah, knowledge.

No, not the entire memory of Isshin. Just a few bits here and there. No full memory either. Something like a face will just suddenly pop up in Ichigo's head. Things like that.

The reflexive thing would work. As it would be something that would slightly benefit him, and hinder him as in him having to overcome Isshin's fighting style as it doesn't work for him.

Orihime was raised by her brother, not her parents, until she was twelve. We don't know what happend after that, but she lives by herself by the time she's fifteen. Chad lives by himself. Ishida lives by himself. And there's no indication that Keigo or Mizuiro live with their parents. Though Mizuiro seems to live with whatever older woman he wants.

There is that too.

I have no idea who I would have them go to though. I personally would do Tatsuki. Mostly because I like her character and would like a nice Ichigo/Tatsuki pairing if I did a pairing.

The problem is that Tatsuki's parents are alive. If he was raised as their son he would view her as his sister.

not at the age of 11-12.

You are more likely to be sexually attracted to the opposite sex in a closer proximity.

The reason you don't find siblings and the like attractive is because of the impriniting thingy that goes on for about the first five years of your life.
