Imperial Requiem: Chapter 1

Mareek Stele stood atop the transport to survey the fields that had been purchased for use as a temporary base for their mission.

It was a test, he knew that. Completion of the mission would lead to rewards from Lord Dion upon his return.

It was an unusually freeing situation, he had complete command of the troops he had been assigned. Dion's habit of having his hands in everything was somewhat disconcerting, but he could understand it as his master had been betrayed to many times and apparently only had complete trust in a small handful of those loyal to him.

At the moment he was probing the force, keeping an eye on the minder his master had sent for him to watch rather than the expected way while they awaited the American liaison for their hunt.

The man was already late and the Imperial Knight had to endure the presence of the all to cheerful Nymphadora Tonks.

A part of him was glad his master had messed with her mind to ensure her loyalty after taking her from the treacherous Order of the Phoenix. And he could see the wisdom in having a witch available for the battles to come in their hunt for the criminal now known as Seth.

Suddenly an unusual presence in the force surfaced, something familiar and yet strange at the same time. He couldn't place it exactly, but the being gave him the impression of a trained being.

For some reason the word Antares came to mind.

This sidestory will probably end up taking up my Imperium Rising schedule for a while, or at least much of it.

A lone figure moved through the darkness of the cult compound with unnatural swiftness.

Only the occasional soft padding of footfalls gave evidence to the beings passing, a brief hint of light revealed a feminine form, creamy white skin and silvery blond hair.

The signal sent by her master had been enough to set her to motion, the months of preparation after her insertion into the cult as a spy had prepared for what was beginning now.

The brief flash of data had given her a target to search for before her main mission objectives could come into play.

Her eyes flashed silver for a moment as her hand pressed against one of the control pads before a flicker of sparks and a puff of smoke. The door unlocked and slipped open, the lock keeping it closed ruined beyond repair.

The lower levels were ones that her cover identity had not been allowed to access, but she had explored them covertly as well.

Now she had a message from Lord Stele to find someone inside the compound with the name Antares. And since there wasn't anyone in the general populace of the cult with that name, she had to check the underground levels to see if someone had been brought into the research facility that the megalomaniac named Seth had constructed underneath the compound.

A sound ahead set her into motion, vanishing into a ventilation grate in the ceiling as one of the guards in unusual, golden armor moved past underneath.

Idiots, she mused internally as she proceeded through the maze high off the ground.

Eventually she lowered into one of the sealed labs and placed her hand up against one of the access points of the computer and her eyes lit up once more.

"Easy money," she whispered softly as information flashed through her like lightning.

It took only a few moments before she was on the move again, no personnel with the name she was looking for.

What had gotten her interest was the mention of an accident within the chamber Seth was working with an unusual form of Hyperdrive and a found human.

At first the fact that Seth had access to technology that she had formerly believed only belonged to Dion and his coming empire, but then she had come up with other information.

Seth wasn't a native to the planet, and the one who believed himself a god wasn't very good at figuring out his enemies, or picking out traitors.

Glancing into the containment facility, she noticed the being that had been found.

The odd thing was that the man was dressed in what seemed to be a variant of the armor that Crimson wore, complete with Imperial Symbols.

Same type of droid, not a copy of Guri. It is another Human Replica Droid, though not a replica of any specific person.

Also Antares is someone from Star Wars as it is.

Maarek grimaced as he heard the news.

"Why the hell is the States' Air Force getting involved," he asked the Magical Control Bureau Agent after ordering the first few teams to prepare for infiltration.

Jason Harrison shrugged, "I tracked their assignments, but the military groups aren't answering beyond something about Deep Space Radar or something."

"And people wonder why we don't let them in on our own secrets," he muttered, "At least we get information on the jobs we're supposed to do."

Both paused as he signaled to the two commando squads he'd had outfitted with magical upgrades. The black armor shimmered slightly as the invisibility spells triggered, letting them fade from sight.

"Snipers ready to cover the entry," came the response from one of the sharpshooters.

The Imperial Knight grinned as he knew things were ready.

He was confused.

Antares knew that and he tried to remember what had happened to him.

He remembered pain and smoke as the ship rocked, shuddering like a beast in pain as he heard several bulkheads seal off and lights flickering.

Staggering through the damaged transport, he activated the white-silver blade of his lightsaber to illuminate his path.

It felt like an eternity to him with the alarms blaring in his ears, almost making him wonder if he would ever be able to hear normally again.

And then there was a bright light as his eyes locked onto the sparking and smoldering hyper drive that still struggled to flare back to life.

His eyes snapped open as he reached out with the force, trying to find some answers.

Antares Draco was having trouble remembering things as a few images flashed before his eyes but with nothing to tell him how they connected together.

His eyes cleared and he made out the image of what appeared to be a human female, but yet the force was telling him wasn't one.

A chain of explosions rocked the building as the commando teams entered from the known entrances and through the skylights.

Mareek waved a hand to smash through a wall to a glassed side of a dining area with the force. His crimson armor proof against the thousands of razor sharp shards scattering about while walking through the bent and twisted pieces of steel frame for the room, lightsaber activating to slash through another door.

The two observers followed behind as he felt the same exhilaration he felt in the cockpit of his Missile Boat.

The force flowed like lightning through him as he moved through the crowd of now panicked cultists with the magical releases of stunners dropping his foes in waves as the flashes of sapphire energy of stun bolts filling the other entrances.

Yanking him from the ground, Wyna moved towards the storage vaults she had spotted before he woke up.

Through her datanets, she triggered the remote detonators on the generator and a virus in the computer systems to fry the security systems just prior to the blasts.

Her recognition software was still working through all stored information as to this mans identity, but for the moment she followed the "instinct" she had been programmed with and trusted him to an extent, the uniform of an Imperial Knight combined with an analysis of a blood spatter proved that he was an active force user.

"Who are you?" she queried after ensuring that they were clear of the jail area before the automated lock down of the section began.

"Imperial Knight Antares Draco," he responded, "Apprentice of Emperor Fel."

"Fel?" she queried, "I don't recognize that name."

He looked stunned.

"It is possible that Seth managed to take you here from another time stream," she continued, "Lord Tyran was trained by a spirit from another already which gived proof of other realities."

The infiltrator paused a moment, "Lord Sidious' spirit had traveled here for a time and found master a worthy student for all of his teachings, mostly because he did not believe that there would be a way for a physical visit which could lead to a power struggle, also his previous apprentice had betrayed him and rejected his teachings in the same event that killed him."

"Sidious?" the Imperial night asked before he remembered that name, "You mean he's an apprentice of PALPATINE?"

It's very nice to see an update to this story after so long. I think Antares would be to respectful of the founder of the Empire to address him without his proper title, even under shock.

Not totally, even in the Legacy of the Force (Current time in the novels), most of the Imperials have a disdain for Palpatine because of the way he set things up in the Empire. It was a house of cards effect when he died followed by more havoc without a clear chain of command for when he died. His resurection caused even more destruction.

"Sir," came the call from one of the teams, "Target sighted, he's moving in your direction with escort."

A brief pause as the mix of energy weapons fire of both blasters and an unknown type filled the comms.

"Unable to pursue," continued the report, "Requesting immediate assistance, the cultists have weapons of an unknown type."

"Airtroopers," Mareek ordered, "Converge on the location of team two, maintain stun settings, I want them alive for questioning."

"Roger."

The imperial knight slowed his charge through the building, using his powers to reach out in search of his quarry. The tip of his lightsaber leaving a glistening trail of molten marble as he moved, the hiss mixing with the tempo of his boots.

A moment later, Seth and two guards armed with weapons similar in appearance to staves appeared before them.

An energy blast detonated a flower pot and a second scarred the floor while the guards advanced to cover their master who was fiddling with a jewel on his wrist.

The force sang in warning, prompting the lightsaber armed warrior to leap forwards, blade spinning as he moved through the air to slice cleanly through the weapons before landing beside the cult leader.

The wizard observers paused as a wave of metallic rings burst from the ground around them and both Seth and Mareek vanished in a flash of light.

Jason and Tonks paused only long enough to raise their wands and fire on the guards that were pulling other weapons.

Mareek spun, lashing out with the force as Seth unleashed a blast from his hand-device.

"Bow before your god!" the creature demanded as the two attacks matched each other in a shimmering barrier of energy between them.

"If I encounter one I just might," the Imperial Knight retorted as he increased his focus, sending the Goa'uld tumbling across the chamber, "But I have yet to meet one, I only bow to Lord Dion."

He reached out, hand wrapping around the wrist of the arm with the Goa'uld weapon.

"Let me show you something," he stated behind his helmet as he squeezed, "I took my masters example and began wearing my own crush gaunts."

Bones shattered as the arm collapsed beneath his grip.

"Be grateful that Dion wants you alive," came the snarl from the force user, "For I would have been more than happy to leave nothing larger than a gnat behind after leaving you in such torment that nothing would be left in your pathetic little head."

He reattached his lightsaber to its place on his belt and drew the blaster in one move.

"This will hurt," Stele stated, "Quite a bit."

And then a flash of blue sent their target to dreamland.
