Naruto In your opinion...?

Soo...What are the top 3 qualities you think that a fic should have? And then mention three Naruto fics, and what do you exactly like in them?

I think that a fic should have a good, unique plot and good grammar, as well as some humour

Aaand, the best Naruto fics are in my opinion,
A little bit of a Bigger Change by reighost, because I really like the plot. I like it when Naruto is genius, and I like it also when Naruto's a girl :D And more than anything, I second chances like in that fic xD

Mary Bob The Mysterious Uchiha! by Uke Love I love that fic. It's just too damn funny.

Retribution by madnarutofan This is dark oneshot, but great. Its Naruto is so inspiring!

All these fics can be found in ff.net ^^

I think that overall the three qualities, in my opinion, are:

1) Good / Original Plot
2) Developing / Interesting Characters
3) Grammer

So more or less what Fei-sama had stated =P

As for favorites... nothing I want to really post. If I like it its on my ff.net account favorites.

There's two standard requirements for me to keep on reading a story after the first page or two.

1. Good flow in the story
2. Acceptable ( or better ) grammar and spelling

The third requirement changes pending on what sort of fic it is.

If it's a serious one, I like believable characters. They can bloody well be as ruddy OOC as the writer desires, but I want reasons for it and I'd like real reasons complete with descriptions and explanations for it as well in the actual fic, not just a line or two stating that "This is an AU where Shinji has an actual spine, because I want him like that!" in the beginning of the story. Or some brief bit of the fic where the actual change is glossed over in a paragraph or two. I like to follow the entire process in the fic itself.

If it's a funny fic, I can disengage completely from all of that and can accept just about any amount of OOC behavior as long as the fic manages to be funny, so in that case humor becomes a *much* more important attribute then believable characters.

I certainly don't mind overused/bad plots, cause that would make me a big fat-ass hypocrite as I'm guilty of re-using old familiar plots myself ( :) ), as long as the writer does something original and/or worthwhile with that plot.

Pretty much agree with the above.

1) Good plot, flow, logical scene placement, etc.
2) Grammar. Doesn't have to be perfect, but it should at least be acceptable.
3) Pretty much what Hawk said.

Though even comedies, OOCness must be explained. Could be a stupid explaination, but still have an explaination. ^_^

Since my opinions on what good fics require have all been echoed by others, I'll just link fics I think are absolutely mandatory reads.

One Hundred Days. Validates Sakura better than any other fic in existence without being stupid about it. Also does a good job by all the other canon characters (well, mostly). Depends a lot on original characters but at no time do they dominate the story and they always actually manage plausibility.

Transition Anchor. One word: intense. Seriously. If you can get through this one without repeated emotional charging and draining, there is something very very wrong with you.

Geno Calamari's Uchiha series. Read them even if you hate Sasuke. Actually, read them *especially* if you hate Sasuke.
1) Shoutei
2) Hardened by Fire
3) Complications
4) Brothers

I'd link FlashFyre5's fic Genin but the stupid fuckers who run FFnet deleted it a long time ago because of the Author's Note which composed Chapter 16. Damn stupid fuckers.

Ummm...

Read everything at The SOC Puppet's FFnet page and LiveJournal. His writing kicks ass and anyone who disagrees is objectively wrong. Period.

More later. Maybe.

The SOC Pupett kick's ass, I already recommended him somewhere in a thread on this board.

As for the rest, i think i share the opinion of the majority, nothing to ad here.

While I know Sasuke would have become a chuunin eventually, Idoubt he would have made it only six months after the first try, unless they were promoting the Uchiha, not Sasuke.
And the whole "need of the other kages approval to promote someone" is among the stupidest things I ever read in a Naruto fic.

Huh? Need aprovall from other Kage's? What the hell? I can't find ONE good reason for this.
*shrugs*

Another recommendation: Catch 22, by The Sh33p.

Not a fic so much as a collection of 110 ideas and observations. Some of them are hilarious; some of them are scary; and others make a scary amount of sense.

I have printed this for my personal use because it's not really allowed to be on the site and it could be deleted without warning. Also, many of the ideas are just brilliant and I might ask permission to use a couple if I weren't lazy and didn't have so many other ideas that I'm writing or not writing, as the case may be.
