Interchanged Fates û Unusual Company
Japan, Fuyuki City, Matou Residence û 7:37 AM
Emiya Shirou wasnÆt one to dream often. Before his involvement in the Holy Grail War, he would have honestly admitted that he didnÆt want to dream because he often dreamed of that fateful day where he nearly died and where he met his foster father.
After the last fight with Gilgamesh and Kotomine, his views on dreams shifted. Although he would occasionally dream about some of the darker moments of the Holy Grail War, he did have some good dreams which more than often had Saber present in them. And quite a number of them were erotic in nature.
Well, he is a healthy teenage boy dealing with hormones and matters of the heart.
This particular dream was far from erotic. The setting of this dream is in a dense forest. The sun was setting at this point so the surroundings were mostly a golden colour. But that didnÆt really bother Shirou since he could still see SaberÆs beautiful face clearly.
His dream self knelt down by the tree trunk where SaberÆs body rested. Her blonde locks had been released from the conservative hairstyle that he had always seen her with. She was dressed in her standard battle costume with silver chest plating and blue clothing. Her typical skirt armour and gloves were missing though. Her face was relaxed as she slept on, oblivious to the companion next to her.
That was okay with Shirou. He wouldnÆt want to disrupt this delicate scene before him.
He wanted to savour this image for as long as possible but unfortunately, his body clock started to rouse him from his slumber. The forest, sunset background and the sleeping Saber vanished from his sight as his body started readjusting itself to reality. He had to admit that while he was far from being in healthy condition, at least itÆs better than the first time he woke up when he made his trip to the bathroom to puke.
His joints were feeling stiff as he got out of the bed so he did a bit of stretching. After a few minutes of waking up, he noted the time on the clock before he exited through the open bedroom door. There should be enough time for a quick cleaning and a meal before school starts.
While he washed his face, he could vaguely hear a few sounds downstairs of condiments being gathered. At the thought of food, his stomach started to grumble in anticipation of being fed. He quickly dried himself off and made his way down the staircase.
As he entered the kitchen, he saw Sakura, dressed in the same pink outfit that he had seen before, rummaging through a few shelves. ôHuhà now where did I put the miso soup stock? Ah!ö She triumphantly pulled out an item.
ôGood morning, Sakura!ö said Shirou with a small smile.
The plum haired girl noticed the smiling young man and gave a small blush. ôSempai! YouÆre up! Are you feeling better?ö
ôI am feeling a bit better as a matter of fact. That rest there did a few wonders for me. Anyways, IÆm sorry for causing you all that inconvenience so I would like to make it up to you by helping cook breakfast this morning.ö
She started shaking her free hand frantically while continuing to blush. ôThereÆs no need! YouÆre my guest so you donÆt have toàö
ôYouÆve come over to my home many times to cook. I insist that I repay the favour at least this time since IÆm here in your home. What do you need to get?ö He started looking through a few shelves.
ôUmà I think I have everything except for some soy sauce. I wish I knew where grandpa usually stores itàö She trailed off as Shirou pulled out a bottle of said sauce.
ôYou donÆt seem to be too familiar with your kitchen,ö said Shirou with a small laugh.
The blush on her face grew a bit redder. ôI guess IÆm just used to where you keep things in your kitchen that I get mixed up sometimes.ö
A few moments passed and a comfortable silence fell upon the two teenagers as they worked to prepare the morning meal for four people. Shirou would look after the soup and seaweed while Sakura looked after the rice, fish and vegetables.
The young girl couldnÆt help but shiver in delight. Cooking with her love interest like this felt quite intimate for her and this feeling was quite enjoyable. Although it had nothing on the time when she made a visit to his bedroom a few nights ago andà
æOh dear! I shouldnÆt be thinking of such thoughts right now!Æ But she was starting to blush more furiously. In an attempt to distract herself, she increased the pace of her vegetable chopping but memories of that night continued to surface.
ôSakura!ö
ôEh?ö She felt a tiny sting on her left thumb and noticed that she had cut herself. ôOh myàö
ôYouÆre okay, are you?ö Shirou examined the wound and quickly led the girl to the kitchen sink. ôLetÆs get this cleaned up. WhereÆs your first-aid kit?ö He turned on the water and placed her left hand underneath.
ôUmà itÆs okay, really! I was just a little distracted, thatÆs all.ö
ôItÆs not okay! I saw that cut and it looks like a pretty nastyàö He trailed off when he saw that all signs of blood had vanished from her left hand. In fact, there were no signs of a cut at all. It was as if she had regenerated whatever flesh and skin had been lost from the cut as soon as she injured herself.
ôààààö
ôSee? ItÆs really okay!ö She was then interrupted by the shifting of a chair and someone making their presence known near the dining table in the kitchen. Shirou glanced over to see a stranger dressed in only a large black cloak covering the body and a white mask with a pair of thin eye holes, a nose and some teeth at the bottom. Something about that stranger seriously unnerved him.
The stranger shifted its head ever so slightly to regard the young man and spoke. "Lovely morning, isn't it?"
Enjoy.
