Iron Fic 3-13: Force Works
We don't like to admit it, but we're programmed to respect displays of force as signs of strength and ability. Doesn't have to be violentùforce comes in many forms, including but not limited to the physical, the economic and the political. Forcing what you will may be inelegant, but it's simple and usually expedient. The problem is that to keep most problems solved by force solved, you need to keep applying force. People have the strangest objections to being told what to do even if it's for their own good.
So. Write about problems being solved in the direct manner, with extreme prejudice, quickly and for a cause. The idea is to show that tactical applications of strength are effective, but to what degree is up to you. Force tends to be effective in the short term, but in the long run not so much. Of course, rebellion might be just another part of your plan, because while force works, it also makes a fabulous distraction.
Note that this does not have to be about the villainsùheroes have their off days, and there are people who respond better to being punched in the face than words, and sometimes the direct method just has fewer consequences.
The challenge is made!
