Iron Fic 3-7: Summer Blues
Thanks to the school system, we tend to associate the summer months with good things; freedom, fun, friends and so on. We look forward to the warm months as a time to relax and do what we want to do.
Never works out like that though. You get home from work too tired to do anything (if you get home; forced overtime is awful), or your friends are all busy, or you get caught up with one thing and wind up missing everything else. Worst of all is if you've got nothing to do; come September you'll be desperate to go back to school.
For this prompt, write about the things that go wrong in the summer months, conflicting schedules, killer weather, and so on. Maybe a routine event becomes horrible thanks to a heat wave, or an unpleasant place is made worse. Maybe tempers flare between friends as the temperature skyrockets, or a winter war is turned into a nightmare as bodies and soldiers cook. How literally is up to you.
The challenge is made!
