Is Anifics Down?

I've been having troubles getting to the Anifics forum this evening.

Is anyone else also experiencing the same issue?

I had a change in my internet access today, so I am uncertain if it is just me or not. But I can get most everywhere else.

Just sent an e-mail out to Sol Lord (Admin). I think he is the only one that can look into a complete failure of the site.

I believe I used the correct e-mail address, I've not had to resort to email with him in some time, normally just send PM's back and forth. Last contact was 2 days ago.

EDIT: Of coure, even if it is the correct e-mail address, it is middle of the night, so may not get fixed right away.

I got a very brief reply to my e-mail from Sol Lord a while earlier.

...

Looks like its gone... -.- and I dont have a back up
No other deatails to share, and uncertain if he was going to try other avenues.

I'll post more as soon as I know anything.

Well... he must have found a backup or something, as it is back up.

It's still dead to me. All I get is rerouted to Ask.com. That generally means a site isn't there on my browser.

It seems to be dead still. Should I assume it is forever gone?

That would be a shame, as it's the first fic forum I ever joined, back when it was on Delphi still.

CarrotGlace.

Look at the dates... this is not the current threads, this was from last year.

Anifics hosted sites, and the anifics forum sites, to my knowledge, based on Sol's words, and my own experience... are universally and permanently down.

Oops. I assumed as it was on the first page, threads this old usually don't linger this long on the first page of topics. Then again, there is only one page. I just didn't bother with checking the post date because of that.

That's a shame though. I'll miss it, even if traffic there wasn't what it used to be.

Even if not as active as it used to be. I still had a ton of personally made direct links to materials on the forums and hosted sites.

In the end, of my links:

22 links were deleted (12 discussion threads, 10 story previews)
46 were redone to point to either Internet Archive/Wayback, or other sites,

Of the 10 preview links deleted, they were:
The 10 deleted story links included:
- R-EH 'Untitled Ranma El Hazard Cross' by RedMenace
- R-MULTI 'Two Heros' by Chedving
- R-SM 'Chaos to the Infinite Power' by Golden Arms
- R-SM 'Unnamed Ranma-SM Project' by Golden Arms
- R-SM 'What The Hell' by Matdeception
- R-TM 'Days In The Wind' by DoorKnob
- R-TM 'Disconnected Scene' by Chrono_Scholar
- R-UNKNOWN 'Untitled' by Matdeception
- RANMA 'Round Robin Challenge' by Multiple
- SM-MULTI 'Restarting the Bet A challenging Spamfic' by ellf

I've sent notices by various means to Redmenace, Golden Arms, Matdeception, and ellf. Of them:
- RedMenace indicated he was considering reposting preview material to other sites, called it a 'firm maybe'
- Matdeception was surprised, and did not know it had gone down, but had me send him the couple I had, as he could not even remember one of them.
- Golden Arms and ellf I had not heard anything from.

Keep in mind, there were far more stories than that in the forums, those were merely the ones I could not get elsewhere and liked enough to do.

Caught this just now on Sanjiyan's.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey All,

This is just announcement letting everyone know that the AniFics.com forums
are online but sadly they're lacking any restored data. Do to several
problems between hard drive failures and MIA server admins all my back ups
were corrupted and I was locked out of the sever for the last few months
before it went offline with no way of creating backups of the database for
the forum or anything hosted for that matter. The only back up I have for
the AniFics forum dates from way back in 2005 and they are not even
remotely compatible with the newest beehive software. I do have a full back
up of all the hosted site dating from February 2007 I will look into
restoring asap if requested.

If people want I'm willing to try and spend a weekend looking into
converting and restoring the old forum data but this will over write all
the new user accounts and settings. If you all think this is a good idea
let me know and I'll get to work on it. This will mostly consist of
installing and upgrade previous version of beehive to the newest version
until I get it to work -.-

Sollord,
Anifics Admin

Nice to hear.

Even if the Anifics forum didn't get that much activity a number of years prior to it shutting down, it's still something I was sad to see go. Even better if all the data can be recovered.

Now if only the Anifics-hosted websites will come back soon (which it seems they will), and if Fanfic.net (not FanficTION.net) would come back online. If both of those happened, that would be worth celebrating.

Fanfic.net has been down...several months. Much too long.

Meh.

I'm having a bitch of a time getting beehive to upgrade itself from an old 0.5 back up to the 0.9.1. I've already sunk about 5hours into it over the last two days and as much as I would love to get it up this weekend its not looking to likely. I can only spend some much time adjusting an 11MB sql file to make it parse through the converter script before I get the urge to kill something... with fire.

In all likely hood once I restore the old 2005 database it will be locked given it's age and I will look towards using SMF or phpBB instead of beehive.
